Hindu-Christian wedding in Little Rock, Arkansas is a 3-day celebration of love, culture, and family.
Amanda & Aaditya’s relationship began as a solid friendship. First meeting while completing their internships in Little Rock, where they were both residents in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, their fast friendship slowly blossomed into something more. By their last year of residency, a budding romance formed between them. Aaditya asked Amanda out on Valentin’s Day in 2017, and so began their journey towards forever!
Two years later, the couple said “I do” where it all began in Little Rock, Arkansas and celebrated with their friends and family in a 3-day event. Their wedding weekend first featured a Christian ceremony and reception, then Indian traditions including Mehndi, Sangeet, and a Hindu ceremony to incorporate traditions from both of their families. It was the perfect way to celebrate the beginning of their lives together.

Day 1: Christian Ceremony
How they met…
We met while completing Physical Medicine and Rehab residency in Little Rock. We were always friends, but then our last year while we were chief residents, things changed. Aaditya asked me out for Valentine’s day in 2017 and we began our adventure.
The proposal…
The day he proposed, a little over a year later in March of 2018, we’d just come home from brunch. There were rose petals scattered all over the floor. The funny part is I’d initially thought someone had broken in because he’d gifted me two dozen roses for Valentines a couple weeks earlier, but I later realized what was happening when he took my hand and I saw him on one knee, lol. It was all very romantic and unexpected.
Floral details…
I didn’t have any specific flowers that I wanted in my bouquet, just certain colors. We wanted big bold centerpieces to really elevate the space. For a traditional Indian wedding, flowers are a big part of the marriage ceremony itself, from the garlands the bride and groom wear, to them being showered with flowers by family, to the amount of floral decor on our ceremony stage. We really wanted a vibrancy of color that usually comes with Hindu weddings and a celebration of marriage. Our floral vendor was amazing with taking some ideas and really expounding on it.

Reception space & decor…
As the bride, I was inspired by some Pinterest bouquets and styles of vases. The Friday ceremony was in a space with a beautiful natural window, so not much floral design was needed to make it look amazing.

Day 2: Mehndi & Sangeet Night
Cultural elements & themes…
Each day had a different theme. We wanted Friday’s Christian wedding to be elegant, classy, with a fun reception where everyone could let loose. Colors were navy blue, larkspur (similar to lavender), plum, and hints of gray. Saturday’s Sangeet theme was festive. Saturday and Sunday’s attire were focused on red and gold hues. Both of those days were focused on Indian cultural and religious traditions.
Personalized details…
The Saturday Sangeet was catered by a place we absolutely love in Little Rock, Taj Mahal. Our specialty cocktails that evening were a reflection of our favorites, French 75 (bride) and Old Fashioned (groom). The entertainment for Sunday was the Rodney Block Band with Bijoux, a group we listened to frequently as we were falling in love. It was very special having them there for part of our special weekend.
Favorite wedding day moments…
Our favorite parts of the wedding were exchanging personal vows we’d written to each other, performing our Sangeet dance, and taking seven circles around the fire during the Hindu ceremony.
Day 3: Hindu ceremony
Wedding day looks…
Bride: I ended up picking a gown for Saturday with a silhouette I hadn’t planned to try. I was blown away at how I felt and looked in it. Saturday’s gold saree was so comfortable and shimmery. I wanted something lightweight because I knew I’d be dancing the night away. I had some wonderful choices for the Hindu ceremony, but fell in love with the red dupatta and how that brought together the design of the bridal saree.
Groom: I wanted more of a traditional suit but with a pop of color added to the tie. For Saturday, wanted something more bright and vibrant that stood out, but was comfortable. Sunday’s ceremony was focused on staying traditional with still some red tones.
Baraat (groom’s procession)…

Most special wedding day moment…
Groom: Seeing my bride for the first time, dancing all night at the Friday wedding and doing the splits, and performing our Sangeet dance.
Bride: The best moment for me was everything, but what stands out was during the Hindu ceremony my bridesmaids and nieces escorted me in but I was mostly covered by a large scarf they were holding. It was all very emotional when I finally got to the ceremony stage and was revealed to family, friends, and Aaditya. It was such a special moment.
Wedding advice for other engaged couples…
Use a planner for sure! Don’t compromise on what you want in terms of the wedding, because in the end, it’s you and your spouse’s special day.
