“I found the one whom my soul loves” – Song of Solomon 3:4
Love sometimes doesn’t necessarily need to be found, because often time’s love finds you and when it does you can never let it go. For Amaka Agim and Ochuko Sifo they knew that they could never let go once they found each other, because the love that united them can never be broken. The couple met in Amaka’s home church after being introduced by her pastor. Ochuko definitely made a great impression, because Amaka searched for him the following Sunday, but was disappointed when she didn’t see him. The bride-to-be shares, “but the Lord saw my heart and right before my pastor brought the Word, he invited Ochuko to minister in worship.” The Lord set off a light in these two and has been illuminating since.
Ochuko planned the perfect surprise proposal. He wanted Amaka to think she was planning a surprise party for his sister-in-law’s birthday when in reality she was planning her surprise engagement party. Amaka didn’t suspect a thing and arranged for a great engagement dinner with family and friends and one closest friend who “happened” to be visiting that weekend. Not everyone was in on the surprise proposal, which made it even more special. After arriving at the venue, Amaka’s sister gave the cue for Ochuko to step out briefly to prepare for the proposal. Ochuko came back, stood by Amaka ready to give a toast and then got down on one knee to ask Amaka to be his bride. The groom-to-be shares, “ I had never seen such shock on anyone’s face more than I saw on Amaka’s face as she had no hint of what was coming.” How perfect!
Amaka and Ochuko’s love illuminates in this fun and playful engagement session captured by the talented Daniel T. Davis of Daniel T. Davis Photo at the wonderful Discovery Green Park in Houston, Texas.

What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple?
Ochuko loves to sing. Amaka loves to listen to Ochuko sing! We also enjoy our movie dates.
How has wedding planning been so far?
Planning both ceremonies has been exciting and a lot of fun. We are having two wedding ceremonies – a Nigerian traditional and a Christian wedding. We have the best support team – our families and friends, and amazing vendors, too.
What are you looking forward to most on the wedding day?
God has been, and continues to be so good to us. We are looking forward to celebrating our union with our families and friends.
