Tell us how you met and all about the proposal. We met each other on our first day at Purdue University. He smiled at me, and it was the first genuine smile I had seen since arriving in America. After a three year long friendship, maintained through the harrows of graduate school life, we began dating. The proposal was just like our relationship: straightforward and genuine. I was so surprised to find a ring waiting for me when we were leaving to celebrate our birthdays last year. We continue to grow stronger, bonded by our love for each other, life, and humanity. He still smiles at me every day!
What was wedding shopping like for you? Wedding shopping was so easy; Legacy Farms took care of everything! Danielle was so good at guiding us through the entire process. We never felt overwhelmed or lacking of options. My wedding dress was simple yet chic. It had lace (my obsession) and some rustic sensibilities.
Did you incorporate any culture into your wedding? We wanted to add a bit of Middle Eastern flair to the ceremony. One of the main components of any celebration is the presentation of coffee and dates. We imported some traditional dates and coffee from Saudi Arabia to incorporate into our day! We used the dates to make truffle-like desserts, which go great with coffee.
What is your best memory from your wedding? Our best memories were the times we spent with each other, either getting ready or taking pictures. It was intimate moments like these where we could really absorb what was happening. The wonderful photographers and staff made sure that our day went by with (relative) ease.
What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples? Hire a wedding planner! Things can get complicated, and you should be able to enjoy your day!
