Describe your business.
Posh Events & Affairs is a 15 year, full-service wedding design and planning company. Our motto is “to create wedding dreams with no regrets”. We are committed to ensuring our clients have the experience of a lifetime with no regrets around budget, design, vendor choices, location, etc.
What did you do before starting your business in the wedding industry?
Dreamed of starting my business in the wedding industry! It’s been a lifelong mission to make bride’s dreams come true.
How long have you been in the wedding industry?
I’ve been in the wedding industry for over 20 years creating experiences from luxury weddings to backyard picnics to seaside retreats. It’s what I do and very much a part of who I was created to be.
How would you describe your style?
One thing I’ve learned over the years is that my style really doesn’t matter. My goal is to get in the heads and hearts of my brides, my grooms, and their families and create the experience that they want to have so that every client feels like their style is my style.
What motivates you?
For me, the wedding planning process is really a marriage planning process in some degree. Leveraging wedding planning provides an opportunity to strengthen the love, faith, and commitment of the people getting married. There is so much in the process that can test even the best relationship revealing strengths and weakness, that seeing couples grow even closer through the process is very motivating.
Why should brides/grooms choose you?
Many couples completely underestimate the level of stress wedding planning can be. And what’s different about our team is that we strive to ensure our brides and grooms don’t have a care in the world in the planning process. We go beyond suggesting colors, and vendors, and table designs and logistics to really ensuring that this is an amazing experience from start to finish.
From the people dynamics and family dynamics, (we all have that special Uncle or Cousin or sibling) to creating that one-of-a-kind event, we are the shield and protector such that when our clients look back over their time with us, it’s not just the day of the wedding, it’s the journey and the great experience they had.
How does your company define and measure success?
There’s an old proverb that says “Let another man praise you and not your own lips”. And so we measure our success by the praise of our customers.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
It’s rare as busy, professional adults that we are able to put ourselves in someone else’s care in a positive way. Where it is someone else’s responsibility to take care of us. And what I love most is that for a season of time, a few weeks, a few months, a year, or whatever, I get the joy and pleasure of getting to take care of somebody else. And see the relief that comes on their faces and in their spirit when they know that my team and I have it handled. And they can literally let it go. No micromanaging required.
Describe a proud moment while working in the wedding industry.
Finding one proud moment to highlight is difficult because I am personally proud of each and every client who entrusted us with one of the most important celebrations of their lives.
What’s the best compliment you’ve received for your work?
One of my clients called me a month after her wedding to say “I miss having you around. Can we do this all over again next year”?
What are your business goals?
Our goals are to continue creating AHH-mazing events for our clients, finding new and creative ways to help other female entrepreneurs realize their dreams within the wedding industry, and continue giving back to our community.
What’s your favorite part of the wedding industry?
Just the diversity with which there is a myriad of ways that people want to experience a wedding. In the past, there was the conventional but now there is so much creativity and so much fun, that clients are graving. And this provides us with the opportunity to continually learn ways that we can make our client’s vision come to life.
Where do you find the most inspiration?
I find my greatest inspiration in the idea of love and belonging. In part because most of my life was a quest for love and belonging from being an “oops” baby that was unplanned and unwanted, to having a failed 1st marriage, to finding love again later in life. The idea of two people who choose to commit to out-loving each other is a great inspiration to me and it is my honor to help them celebrate that commitment.
Is there anything else you’d like our readers to know?
When you choose a wedding planner, you’re inviting someone into intimate aspects of your life. The life that you have and the life you are creating with your spouse to be and their families. My team and I personally believe that it is an incredible honor to be invited into the inner circle of someone’s family. And we do not take that lightly.
The good thing to know is there is no obligation to work with us. Let’s hop on the phone, have a conversation, understand your needs, and if we can bring your vision to life, I’ll happily share what those options are. If I believe there is a service provider who will be an even better fit for your big day, I will happily share that as well and make an introduction on your behalf where I can.
I look forward to hearing from you!
