Attending the same church together since childhood, Tanielle and Quincy grew up sharing numerous mutual friends and acquaintances.
Though Quincy had a crush on Tanielle since childhood, it wasn’t until later in life that they began communicating more directly, developing feelings for each other over time. The more time they spent together the deeper those feelings continued to grow until they finally proclaimed their love. Soon they were discussing marriage, and it wasn’t long before Quincy began planning their perfect proposal. Read all about their love story and wedding plans in their intimate destination engagement session in the Bahamas.

Tell us how you met. Although they basically grew up together in United Faith Ministries International, Quincy and Tanielle were not in the same circles. He had more of a relationship with Tanielle’s two older brothers. Young Quincy always had a crush on Tanielle but as he grew older, she just became ‘Tanielle from church’. Tanielle never took notice of Quincy, until that fateful night of play rehearsals in 2013. She saw him messaging in his phone and politely walked over and told him he should add her number. Who knew that Tanielle was so bold. Their friendship blossomed from there; from staying on the phone all night, to messaging every day, a relationship was forming. As 2014 went on, they found that they started spending more and more time together and they both knew that real and true feelings were starting to form. October 12, 2014, at 6:12, am, Tanielle was staying with her friend in Atlanta and after a long girl talk, she found herself opening Quincy’s chat and just started typing. At the end of it all, she realized that she loved Quincy. When Quincy woke up and read the message, it was as if the stars had finally aligned and he reciprocated the exact feelings.
November 5, 2014, Tanielle and Quincy decided that they would make things official and start on their journey of love together… Marriage was always a topic of conversation and they knew that they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together.
Tell us about the proposal. During the fall of 2018, they had decided that before they took things any further they wanted to go to counseling just to make sure that getting engaged was the right step to take. Quincy was adamant that he did not want a long engagement and that they could plan a wedding in 6 months. Tanielle really believed this and on the night of their 4th year anniversary dinner the thought that this may be an engagement only came across her mind for a split second and was quickly wiped away, as Quincy’s stance was quite evident, or so she thought… Little did she know, Quincy was planning this from January of that year and that his six-month engagement ploy was only a ruse. Countless nights, he had to pray to not slip up and say anything. He would come home from getting stuff done for the proposal and would want to tell her about his day but he couldn’t chance to say anything. November 2, 2018, after just “deciding” the day before to go to dinner to celebrate their 4th anniversary, Quincy asked Tanielle to be his wife and she said YES!
Describe your engagement session. It was very exciting. Tanielle loves taking pictures but Quincy is not a big fan. So to see him relaxed and getting in the flow of everything was really heartwarming. Having fun with your best friend is always great. We were a bit nervous as we didn’t want to look weird or awkward in any of the photos but Ali made sure that we were both comfortable with every pose and position and ensured that we were placed at just the right angles to bring about the best shots. He was truly amazing and we cannot wait to see how our wedding photos come out.
Did you have an engagement session theme? We didn’t really have a theme. We knew we wanted to do two looks and show different sides of us as a couple. One casual and fun and the other sophisticated and serious.
What did you do on your first date? We went on Arawak Cay (a popular spot for tourists in the Bahamas) for daiquiris and sat on the beach and talked for a couple of hours.
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple? We’re really simple homebodies. We enjoy just being at home laying down, relaxing and watching Netflix. Spending quality time with one another any chance we get is always rewarding.
How has wedding planning been so far? Wedding planning has been stressful yet rewarding and amazing. We did not hire a wedding planner and so from planning out everything ourselves, we have a greater appreciation for persons who do plan weddings. The joy of being able to say that you made these centerpieces or did the thank you’s for the guests – from the glue gun burns to see the finished product you feel a sense of satisfaction and joy. Wedding planning is something that we only plan on doing once for ourselves (and maybe again having a hand in it when it’s our children who are getting married) so we just wanted to make sure that everything was just how we wanted it. Although we know that things will happen, we believe that on our special day, once we are both there and surrounded by the people who love and support us, that is all that matters. It is just one day in the journey of a lifetime and we are looking forward to spending the rest of our days loving one another and building our family.
Tell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day. Tanielle: “Getting to marry my best friend.” Quincy: “The Vows.”
