Ashley wasn’t shy about walking up to Curtis when they first met while at a local bar with friends. Curtis couldn’t stop staring at her so she did him a favor and approached him. “We spent the rest of the evening yelling over the music, getting to each other,” she shares. “Shortly after, he walked me to my car and politely asked for my phone number. He called me the next day and asked me on a date,” Ashley continues. And the rest is history.
The couple wed in a beautiful outdoor ceremony at The Factory at Market Square in High Point, NC. Standing against the brick wall of the building, Ashley was stunning in her pearl adorned strapless gowns and Curtis was just as dapper in his classic black tuxedo. Sequins, blush, and rich blues could be seen on the bridesmaids, while the reception had a few touches of glittered gold and matte gold accents. It was an elegant and intimate affair that reflected the no fuss love the pair embody. Wedding location: The Factory at Market Square – High Point, NCTell us all about the proposal!
The day he proposed, we were looking for houses. We found one we both really liked, but didn’t put an offer in that day. Shortly after looking at the house we now live in, Curtis asked me to invite my parents over for dinner. We went shopping for dinner and went back to our townhouse. After my parents arrived, Curtis and my stepfather went upstairs without saying a word to us. Turns out, he was asking my stepfather’s permission to ask for my hand in marriage. Shortly after he asked me to marry him. I swear, I felt like 10 mins went by before I officially said yes, but I was seriously in shock. My mom was holding on to my left hand and wouldn’t let go so he could put the ring on. Finally, my mom let go of my hand so I could get the bling on my finger. After several tears, hugs and laughs, my mom starting planning our engagement party! Haha.
Describe your wedding dress. How was your shopping experience?
My wedding dress was strapless, ivory with pearls. I truly love shopping for my wedding dress. The one I purchased was the second dress I tried on.
What is your favorite memory from your wedding day?
My favorite memory was the moment I walked down the aisle and saw my fiancé. All the butterflies disappeared and I felt at ease. I tried to soak up the feeling as I walked down to my future husband.
What advice would you give to engaged couples?
Don’t go with the first vendor you find, unless you’re absolutely in love with their work. Take your time and search different vendors before choosing the one.
