Terri and Richard were married in 2013 during two separate ceremonies; one traditional Ghanaian and one traditional western.
They are celebrating their six-year wedding anniversary with an intimate New York cityscape vow renewal in traditional Ghanaian attire. Read all about Terri and Richard as they reflect on the past six years and look forward to many more together as husband and wife.
What was your wedding like? Both of them were glorious! So much fun! Lots of laughter and love in the room.
As you celebrate your anniversary, what do you remember most about your wedding day? Feeling like I made my late father happy and that this had to be God-ordained.
Was there anything you would have done differently for your wedding? More hours to party! Oh, and going with another limo company – mine broke down on the way to the wedding!
What are your favorite things to do as a couple? go to the movies, worship, go for walks, watch our beautiful children, work on productions, and travel.
Who cooks? We both do.
Do you have any children or pets? We have two wonderful children; one boy and one girl.
When it comes to Career, what do both of you do and how do you make time for each other? (Him: Professional Filmmaker. Her: Professional Singer & Actress.) We try to work on projects together as much as we can and Monday nights are date nights!
What would you say are the most important elements for a successful marriage? A foundation of Jesus Christ, love, and the willingness to consistently fight.
How do you keep the spark in your marriage? Surprise gifts, lots of jokes/laughter, and lots of “physical” activity!
What do you love most about one another? Him: Her legs! Me: His eyes!
What advice can you give for newlyweds? Keep Jesus first in your marriage. Always make time for each other. Marriage is not an easy road but one worthwhile when you’re with the one you love. Stay in it and fight.
