Traditional African attire along with a romantic walk through rural and Downtown Huntsville, Alabama, set the scene for love in this intimate outdoor engagement session.
Erin & Christian’s love story began through a mutual friend. Actually, that mutual friend had been trying to set these two up for months! When they finally met, they quickly realized their friend was on to something. Their connection was instant. Everything felt natural and refreshingly put them each at ease.
Within the first 3 months, Erin knew Christian was the one. She reminisces, “One morning I just woke up and knew, and there was peace and serenity in what I felt.” Christian felt the same, realizing Erin was the one early on “based on how easy it was to be with her.” Taking the next step and asking Erin to be his forever was out of the question – they both knew they’d found the one!
Captured by our very own Muna Coterie member, Destiny’s Creations Photography, their intimate outdoor engagement session perfectly shows the joy and love they have for one another.

How they met…
We met through a mutual friend. Erin had just moved to town and our mutual friend tried to set us up for several months before we actually met.
Their first date…
Technically we had two first dates, lol. This is because we have a difference of opinion on when the first date was, lol. One was on Erin’s bday where we met at Christians favorite restaurant and talked over ginger beer. (Erins idea of the first date). But our first real date (according to Christian) was a picnic at Big Spring Park followed by taking photos of each other on pro cameras. Christian had just bought a camera and was wanting to learn how to use it and since Erin is a photographer she happily obliged. We spent all day together and that was the beginning of something beautiful.
The proposal…
Erin was celebrating her graduation with a house party of family and friends. Her parents both happened to be in Huntsville for the graduation (mom visiting, and father living here) which made it perfect timing, and the stage was set for a memorable occasion. Christian got Erin’s parents blessings and contacted her sister back home in California to set things in motion. They planned to use a family zoom set for later that evening for family members that couldn’t attend the graduation party. Erin’s sister contacted everyone, privately set a new time for the zoom call, and let them know it was a surprise proposal instead.
During the party, Christian set the stage for a “toast” and Erin’s family dialed in. He also had their friends hiding downstairs in the basement waiting for the surprise proposal. Erin was confused as to why the time had changed for the zoom call but thought maybe everyone had gotten the time zones confused. During the “toast” Christian congratulated her on graduating while slipping in reasons why he loved her so much. When he finished his toast and let Erin address the crowd thanking them for coming, he got on one knee behind her. When she saw everyone’s reaction in front of her she turned around and saw him proposing. Erin said yes and the rest was history!
When they knew they found“the one”…
Erin: I knew within the first three months that Christian was the one. One morning I just woke up and knew, and there was peace and serenity in what I felt. There was also so much confirmation every step along the way. He is very different than anyone I have ever known and it is very refreshing. I feel like we balance each other so well, and that he brings out the best in me. The experiences we have shared together make it easy to say yes, over and over again.
Christian: I knew Erin was the one based on how easy it was to be with her. I’ve been in relationships where it felt like a daily battle just to be together. Your significant other should be you peace and be your confidant. Erin definitely checked all those boxes for me. She helps me break out of my shell and open up my feelings.
Engagement session & theme…
Our engagement session was really a combination of the different sides of us, and our personalities while honoring Christian’s Nigerian heritage. So we had the first half take place in downtown Huntsville which is the city that we fell in love with, and then an open field so we can wear traditional Nigerian attire. This was very intentional because it sets the stage for how our wedding will be! We will have on traditional American wedding attire for the ceremony and change during the reception into traditional Nigerian attire.
Favorite things to do as a couple…
We are pretty chill, but it would probably be to eat at new places and travel when we can. We are extremely playful with other so it keeps things fresh and fun.
Wedding planning so far…
It’s been exciting and at times stressful. We are still really enjoying it though.
What they’re looking forward to most on their wedding day…
Erin: I’m looking forward to celebrating our love with each other and the people that we love.
Christian: I’m looking forward to finally being official as husband and wife. As well as stop spending money for the wedding!
