Even though weddings were postponed in 2020, love was not canceled.
Due to the pandemic, Kimberley and Brandon had to postpone their wedding twice. They initially planned to wed in Los Cabos, Mexico before deciding to marry in Miami, FL. Kimberley shares, “This was our third time planning our wedding because of the pandemic and all challenges faced. Nichelle from Designs by Nishy really came through for us. We planned our wedding in a little over 2 weeks. As stressful as it was having to go through wedding shopping three times, the third time was the charm. Everything worked out the way it was meant to be and the wedding turned out beautifully!”
Their intimate wedding was a beautiful gathering of close friends and family. And to ensure family and friends all over the world could participate, they decided to live-stream their ceremony and reception. See all of the details beautifully captured by Virge Simone Images below.

How did you meet?
My best friend who is a mutual friend introduced us remotely. I was living in Holland at the time and he was in Jamaica.
Tell us about the proposal.
We were in Negril, Jamaica on a surprise getaway weekend Brandon planned for my birthday at one of the most quaint and beautiful cliffside properties I’ve ever been to. We had a cute bungalow right on the cliffside with an amazing view and such crystal clear turquoise waters below aka Paradise.
Brandon told me we were going for dinner so I should get dressed. Up until this point as far as I was concerned, he had really put some thought and planning into this for my birthday. As we were getting ready and I was about to put on my slippers, I noticed he pulled out his “fancy dress-up shoes” and I remember saying “oh we’re dressing up, ok I’ll wear heels then” (I was thankful for this later on lol) – still not suspicious at all. As we were walking towards the main part of the resort, he directed me towards a different path, as we walked further and I looked up I saw this beautiful candlelit walkway leading out to a gazebo out on the cliffside, decorated with lights and balloons. I froze, I remember thinking, OMG I can’t believe he went and did all of this (feeling so special, still thinking this is for my birthday which was the following day.)
At dinner he played some music on his phone, some old school R&B (to set the mood lol), we talked and had dinner, the food was great. I suggested we ask the waitress to take a picture of us, which she did and then he says “we should take a picture standing up.” It was at this point I got suspicious. I suspected something was up, I’m usually the one leading the picture moments. I remember looking at him thinking, wait, you want us to stand up and take more pics? Who are you? Lol – Little did I know this was all part of the plan.
We took one picture and I turned to one side to change our position a bit and when I turned around, there he stood, with a ring box in his hand and proceeded to get on one knee. I was speechless and the tears of joy started flowing, I of course said yes, in between the tears of joy.
Describe your wedding attire.
My dress was gorgeous and I fell in love the moment I put it on. It was Ivory with embossed lace, nude undertone, fitted with a sweetheart off the shoulder neckline, cut-outs in the side, and a gorgeous train with tons of detailing, designer – Mark Thornburg. His suit was a beautiful navy blue Ted Baker suit, fitted, light material with a blush pink tie and white dress shirt.
What was the wedding shopping experience like for you?
This was our third time planning our wedding because of the pandemic and all challenges faced. Nichelle from Designs by Nishy really came through for us. We planned our wedding in a little over 2 weeks, Nichelle had helped us to source vendors in Miami who were all amazing. She even put us on to a few sites where we could purchase items at a discounted rate which really helped us out. I already had my dress, shoes, headpiece, and veil but Brandon still had to get his suit, which he got 1 week before the wedding! Thankfully it was perfect. As stressful as it was having to go through wedding shopping 3 times, the third time was the charm. Everything worked out the way it was meant to be and the wedding turned out beautifully!
Did you incorporate any culture into your wedding?
No not really, other than playing dancehall and reggae music haha.
What is your best memory from your wedding?
The moment I walked down the aisle and saw Brandon’s reaction, that was such a special moment that I will remember and reminisce about for the rest of our lives.
What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples?
Don’t sweat the small things, focus on what truly matters, it’s not about the wedding, it’s about the marriage. Make sure you enjoy every moment!
