Issa Rae marries her long-time love, Louis Diame, in an intimate ceremony in the South of France.
You may have seen her on her very own Youtube show, Awkward Black Girl, or from her starring role in the acclaimed show, Insecure, but for today, Issa Rae is simply celebrating being a bride!
The accomplished star is pretty quiet about her love life. However, she didn’t hesitate to post several loved-up photos on Instagram with her new hubby, Louis Diame.
Reportedly engaged in 2019, the couple finally tied the knot in an intimate wedding along the Riviera in the South of France. Stunning in a gorgeous custom Vera Wang gown, Issa poses with her handsome man and bridesmaids before beautiful backdrops.
While her cheeky caption pokes fun at their secretive nuptials, you can truly feel the love from these two!

How they met…
With their relationship mostly under wraps, sources have linked the couple as far back as 2012.
In an article by the Washington Post covering Rae’s first project, Awkward Black Girl, Louis was identified as her “boyfriend” and was (at the time) a 29-year-old student.
Regardless, the pair have obviously been happily together for a long time. Louis even appears in episode 7 of Rae’s show!
Ultimately, it’s nice to see such a private couple step into the limelight (if only for a moment) to give us a glimpse into their loving relationship.
The engagement…
While the pair themselves never revealed when they became engaged, two of Rae’s Insecure co-stars actually confirmed the couple’s engagement.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Jay Ellis said: “We all found out in different ways because we’re all on different text chains. We talk at different times, so we all found out at different times in different ways.”
Another co-star, Yvonne Orji, added, “The reaction was all the same, like, ‘You out here in these streets getting married, boo?!’”
Lamine Diop, Rae’s brother, revealed in an interview with Us Weekly that their engagement occurred around the holidays. He also said the couple had “been dating forever” and added “[Louis] is “like a brother to me.”
