Having known each other for over twenty years, hometown friends Jacquline and Chris reconnected to find that their friendship “ignited” into love. In a restaurant in their home town they both came away from the evening “with an unforgettable feeling in our hearts and ‘butterflies’ in our stomachs…and have been inseparable ever since.” Jacquline looks forward to seeing her soon-to-be husband’s expression when he sees her on their wedding day, holding his hands while they say their vows, and hearing those “magic words” of “I now pronounce you husband and wife.”

Tell us how you met and all about the proposal. Chris and I have known each other for years. We are from the same hometown and his sister and I were very good friends growing up so that’s how we officially got to know each other. Chris and I’s love story started out as a 20 year friendship and fast forward years later, that friendship blossomed into a story-tail romance. I returned home to Greenwood, MS and Chris and I re-connected at a hometown event called “I’m So Greenwood.” The love was ignited then, Chris and I spent countless hours just enjoying each others’ company and getting to know each other more since we had spent years in different places. Love was definitely in the air at this point.
The Proposal: Wow! Every girl’s dream come true! After dating for 3 months, Chris popped the question in front of family and friends. I can remember sitting in the kitchen at his mom’s house, laughing and talking with family and as I turned around Chris was there down on one knee saying the most wonderful and romantic things. After lots of ‘oh my goodness’s! I was so excited that Chris had to ask again, “so is that a yes?” I screamed “YESSS” and became his fiance. It still feels like a dream to me when I think about it. It’s a dream turned reality. I am taking a journey to marry my best friend and the love of my life. I am simply the happiest woman on this earth right now!
Describe your engagement session. Our theme for our e-session was “Southern Elegance” since we’re both from a small Mississippi delta town, where everything is pretty much “laid-back,” we decided that we wanted to dress it up a little. So, we opted for a more formal look and then an outfit change to a more traditional and casual look. Our goal was to show a polished and formal look coupled with the background of a historical Mississippi town.
What did you do on your first date? Chris and I love to try new cuisine. So of course our first date was at a local restaurant in our hometown where we met. We laughed and talked for hours. We both left dinner that night with an unforgettable feeling in our hearts and “butterflies” in our stomachs. Needless to say, we have been inseparable ever since.
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple? Anyone that knows us would consider us as “road runners.” However, we just like to enjoy life by traveling, dining out, going to blues shows, musical concerts and spending time with family and friends. We definitely live by the motto, “Live, Laugh, Love.” We get the most excitement from our Friday date nights. Friday night dinner is probably our favorite because we get to rehash the week, talk about our futures, and always splurge on a really nice meal!
How has wedding planning been so far? Just thinking about all the to-do’s earlier on, I can say it was stressful. Now this wedding planning has been smooth-sailing. We just thank God for our amazing planner, Tajda or as we call her, “Gee” of Glam Events by Gee. She has made this journey less stressful and assists every step of the way. After seeing her fabulous work and meeting her for the first time, we clicked instantly and I knew then that she was the right planner for our big day. Chris and I can’t wait to see what she designs on the wedding day! I also just recently said yes to the dress so that has relieved a lot of stress.
Tell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day. I’m looking forward to Chris seeing me for the first time in my dress, and to witness his expression, and holding his hands at the top of the aisle while we say our vows. But the moment I’m looking forward to most is the second when you switch from Miss to Mrs! When the officiant says, “I now pronounce you…” It’s like magic words… We can’t wait to share our forever with our family and friends.
