Jazare and Marlon’s love story first began when a mutual friend, thinking they would be perfect for each other, decided to make the connection. Jazare and Marlon’s first date also happened to be their first meeting. Over a lovely evening meal, the two got to know more about each other, both of them recognizing the magnetism between them and the palpable sparks of romance around them. From that moment on fate intertwined their paths and they’ve remained inseparable ever since.

Tell us how you met and all about the proposal. We met through a mutual friend we’ve both known for many years. She’s my childhood friend, and her and Marlon became good friends in college at Southeastern Louisiana University. Marlon expressed to our mutual friend that he had a crush on me. She told Marlon that we would be the perfect match. She then shared our personal information. After that, Marlon reached out to me and we went on our first date. We have been together ever since then.
We got engaged on my birthday, February 2, while on vacation in the Dominican Republic. I had no idea that Marlon was going to propose to me while traveling out of the country so I was completely shocked. We will never forget that night. It was after we finished my birthday dinner, Marlon took my hand and brought me to a private beach at our resort. When we got to the location on the private beach, it was just Marlon and I, so the setting was very intimate and romantic. Marlon got down on one knee and gave me the most amorous proposal ever. We were both so happy and overwhelmed with joy after the proposal. As I can recall, we did not fall asleep until 4 am the next morning.
Describe your engagement session. Our engagement session was outside and we were surrounded by some of the most beautiful oak trees in southern Louisiana. Despite it being the fall season, it was 83 degrees outside. It was warm and humid but we could have not asked for a more perfect day. We did not have a theme but we decided to wear warm colors to coincide with the fall season. Our engagement session was filled with a lot of love and laughter. Our photographer was exceptionally professional and personable with us. In all honesty we did not want our engagement session to end.
What did you do on your first date? On our first date, we went to Bonefish Grill restaurant in Baton Rouge, LA. It was our first time meeting each other so we had lots to talk about. We got to know each other over good food and drinks. That night we found out that we shared the same favorite TV series which is Game of Thrones.
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple? Our favorite thing to do as a couple is to watch horror movies no matter what time of year it is. We enjoy all holidays but we really look forward to watching 30 days of halloween movie marathons.
How has wedding planning been so far? So far wedding planning has been fair enough. In the beginning, we collaborated with each other of what we envisioned for our special day. We knew that we wanted to get married in NOLA and have a southern styled wedding. After we chose a wedding venue. We then hired a wedding planner to help us execute our dreams and desires. So far everything is going as planned and were counting down to our big day!
Tell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day. We’re looking forward to creating one of the most beautiful memories of our entire life. We cannot wait to be pronounced husband and wife. Lastly, we cannot wait to celebrate our love with the people who love us the most.
