How did you meet? Darryl and I met through a mutual friend at our local church.
Tell us about the proposal. During our 3 year anniversary, Darryl and I went to celebrate in Punta Cana, DR on our last evening of our vacation, he proposed to me during our romantic dinner on the beach.
Describe your wedding attire. Our wedding style was traditional, classic, and timeless. For the ceremony I wore a beautiful Vera Wang ballroom gown and for the reception I work a Justin Alexander mermaid dress. Darryl wore an all-black classic fitted Tuxedo.
What was the wedding shopping experience like for you? The wedding shopping experience was great with the exception of finding the perfect ballroom gown. I went to several bridal boutiques before I actually found the perfect ballroom gown. When I saw it I knew it was the dress for me. Also, I had an amazing wedding planner who assisted me every step of the way.
Wedding gifts: My bridesmaids received personalized tote bags, wine glasses and gift cards to the spa. For the groomsmen, they received personalized flasks with shot glasses.
Gifts for each other: We both exchanged heart-felt hand-written letters and we expressed our love to each other before the wedding. Also, my husband surprised me with a private destination ceremony with just the two of us during our honeymoon in Antigua. Our destination, ceremony and reception was everything I’ve ever hoped and wished for.
Ceremony entrance song: “Here and Now” by Luther Vandross
Reception entrance song: “Finesse” by Bruno Mars
First dance song: “Loving You” by the O’Jays
What is your best memory from your wedding? The best memory from my wedding is when I walked up the aisle to meet my husband. It was absolutely amazing and I will cherish that moment forever.
What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples? The best wedding advice I can give to engage couples is to enjoy every moment of the engagement and wedding experience. This is a once in a lifetime experience and you should enjoy it to the fullest. Try not to stress out because that time goes by so fast. Make this moment about you and your spouse and no one else.
