Theirs is the perfect plot for a Hollywood romantic story. Girl meets boy and can’t stand him. Then, she gets to know him better and they become best friends and then, the rest is…well, you get the picture. Though their story might be one you’ve seen before on the screens, their engagement session is anything but typical. Playful, vintage-inspired and absolutely creative, Jeneba Massaquoi and Tony Wint prove that their love is truly one-of-a-kind. Shot brilliantly by the uber-talented Jason Rathweg of Reclaimed Moments, these images are a breath of fresh air.
On their First Encounter…
“Tony and I met at Delaware State University. At first I didn’t like him at all actually because I thought he was a typical “cocky New Yorker”. I asked him for a ride for me and my friends to go from the mall to campus but he acted like he didn’t want to do it, although it was right across the street. It wasn’t until the next year that we became best friends and then, college sweethearts.” -Jeneba
Jeneba’s revelation on why they fell in love is one-of-a-kind. I told you this couple is different.
“I fell in love with Tony because he is just the sweetest, most sincere guy I ever met. He treats me like a Queen. Tony says he knew he was in love with me when he saw the
way I drive…something like a Danika Patrick I guess. Actually, the story is, we were on our way to a skating trip to Philly while in undergrad and a girl I didn’t like was trying to run me off the road! It became a race and I, of course, couldn’t lose. I was a speed demon that night. He was driving behind us the whole time and he says it was a definite turn-on. He told his friends, “One day she’s going to be mine.”
Wrapping their proposal story in a shroud of secrecy, Jeneba had only this to say about the proposal, “There are several versions of the proposal story. The true story is later to be revealed after the wedding.” I guess we’ll all have to wait to find out.
On what inspired their wonderfully creative engagement session and the theme for the weddding…..
“The theme for my engagement session came from my love of everything Old Hollywood and Vintage Glam. I love the roaring 1920’s and 1930’s. I channeled my inner Billie Holiday for this one. We both love to travel so I thought the Galveston Railroad Museum
would be the perfect venue. I told my stylist over at the Glit Inc. and the rest
is history. The same theme will be carried over to the wedding and there will
be lots of pearls, lace, feathers and crystals involved. Vintage and Glamour are two of my favorite words.” -Jeneba
Jeneba is very pleased with their choice of Jason Rathweg of Reclaimed Moments as their photographer…
“I selected my photographer , Jason through the Houston Bridal Showcase. His work is impeccable. We had our first consultation and I knew he was the one. I loved his work and his style and I knew he would be able to capture our theme perfectly. We also just really connected with him. I feel like he knows us and what we like and don’t like. It helps that he is very easygoing, just like us. Jason, is also very organized and I’m a stickler for organization.”
Her advice on selecting the perfect photographer? “A good photographer will ALWAYS give you lots of direction to find the best possible way to capture your beauty.”
Planning the wedding of your dreams isn’t easy. On the most challenging aspect of planning her dream wedding thus far, Jeneba said…
“The most challenging aspect of planning the wedding so far is just the amount of time and effort it takes. I am a perfectionist, so I want everything to take my guests breath away. I am planning everything to perfection. Getting other people organized and dealing with a wide variety of female personalities can be challenging.”
However, wedding planning isn’t all bad. Jeneba’s having some fun too. On the most exciting aspect of planning the wedding….
“The most exciting aspect of the wedding planning process is seeing everything come together little by little. It gives me a little glimpse of the magnificent evening approaching on October 9th. Everything is going as planned so far and I am very anxious and excited to see how everything will turn out. I do have help though…Big Up to my wedding planner Monique (shameless plug).”
It is incredibly important not to lose sight of what the most important aspect of the wedding is. Thankfully, Jeneba hasn’t.
On what she’s looking forward to most….
“I look forward to spending the rest of my life with the man I love, Mr. Wint, and starting the next chapter of our lives. We are excited to start our family and succeed at this “grown up” thing. Secondly, I must say that I am looking forward to the honeymoon
very very much…BRAZIL LETS GOOOO!!!!!!!”
We wish Jeneba and Tony all the happiness in the world as they put together what we hope is the wedding of their dreams and go on to have a wonderful and exemplary marriage.
