Having attended the same high school together, Jessica and Billy’s love feels meant to be – having grown and matured along the way. On a foundation of friendship, trust and support their love blossomed, and before long Billy was envisioning their perfect proposal. Along with the assistance of both their families, Billy planned a “family day” trip on Memorial Day Weekend to a local baseball game – a favorite family pastime. As the “Kiss-Cam” passed through the crowd it finally settled on their family where they revealed underneath their shirts a message that asked for her hand in marriage. And it was then in front of thousands of people that Billy got down on one knee and presented Jessica with a ring…

Tell us how you met and all about the proposal. Billy and I met while attending high school together. Billy, along with our mothers, planned a surprise proposal during a Memphis Redbirds Baseball game on Memorial Day Weekend 2017. My mother said it was “Family Day” at the ballpark, so of course I was eager to go! Billy wanted us, along with our children, to wear button down shirts. We all made it to the game and most of our family members and friends were there. During the third inning, they showed the “Kiss Cam” throughout the stadium. After two or three couples were shown, Billy and the kids unbuttoned their shirts saying: “Will You Marry Us?” He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him in front of 2,000 strangers and our closest friends. I cried so hard, I could barely breathe. Of course, I said yes! It was one of the best moments of my life. The following day, Billy and our family surprised me with a family cookout and engagement party with our family and friends. We’ve been surrounded by love and well wishes from the beginning.
Describe your wedding attire. My wedding dress was Ivory Lace with Ivory and Stone Tulle over Pewter Dolce Satin completed with a Ivory Pearl and Diamond trimmed veil. The groom was dressed in a custom made cranberry wine tuxedo with black tuxedo pants paired with a black shirt and black on black paisley bow tie with silver studded Steve Madden shoes.
What was the wedding shopping experience like for you? When I began shopping for my wedding gown, I made appointments with three bridal boutiques. Our first appointment left us speechless, overwhelmed and nervous. I knew I had found my dress immediately however I was nervous and did not want to purchase the first dress I fell in love with. So I went to the other appointments and needless to say the experience from the first boutique was unparalleled and I went back and purchased the initial gown I fell in love with.
Wedding party gifts: Bridesmaids gifts consisted of monogrammed bathrobes, personalized wine glasses, jewelry and makeup services for the day. The groomsmen gifts consisted of a personalized toiletries bag, drinking glasses, cufflinks, ties and tie clips.
Gifts for each other: My gift to the groom was 2 carat diamond earrings. His gift to me was an all expense paid honeymoon to Punta Cana!
Ceremony entrance song: The groom entered in on “The Sweetest Love” by Robin Thicke. The bride entered in on “ Fall for You” by Leela James.
First dance song: “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran
What is your best memory from your wedding? I would say the best memory from the wedding was the first look. That moment when I walked into the room my heart began beating, my eyes began to water and a smile began to form because the man I love with all of my being was about to see me for the first time. As I approached, he took a step forward, nervous to turn around and as I reached out to touch his shoulder I felt all the love we have for each other at that time. The look in his eyes when he saw me for the first time I will remember for eternity.
What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples? Enjoy the moments. The wedding day goes by quickly. Enjoy your day and do not let anyone spoil it for you. Above all, hire a coordinator/event planner.
