Tell us how you met and all about the proposal. Darrin and Jessica met as they’re from the same hometown. After college, they became very close friends. After dating for approximately 3 years, on Christmas Eve, December 2015, Darrin led Jessica to the Christmas tree in his parents’ house and told her there was a gift behind the tree for her. When Jessica turned around, she found Darrin on one knee asking her to be his wife. Jessica burst out in tears and gleefully said yes. From there, it was history!
Wedding Style: Summer Soiree
Describe your wedding dress: I knew that it was “my” dress as soon as I put it on! It was the first dress I tried on that truly made me feel like a bride. It was off the shoulder and fit in all the right places – just what I wanted.
What was wedding shopping like for you? I went shopping with my mother and mother in law. We opted to go to a place that had a boutique feel but with lots of dress options. Each of us grabbed a few dresses and met back in the dressing room. It was the third dress I tried on – but afterwards I didn’t want to try on any others.
Bridesmaids/Groomsmen gifts: Bridesmaids – personalized robes and tote bags to carry wedding day essentials, wedding day jewelry. Groomsmen – Amazon echo dots, sunshades, and pocket squares.
Favorite item on the menu: Fried mac n’ cheese bites.
First dance song: “You & I” by John Legend.
What is your best memory from your wedding? My best memory is walking down the aisle to my husband. A runner-up is concluding the night with fireworks under the stars with our family and friends.
What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples? Stay very organized and get a coordinator if possible. You want to leave the month before the wedding to fully soak the experience in.
