Kelci and Nicholas first met on OKCupid where they were struck by the arrow of love. After getting to know each other through social media they certainly felt a first date was in order. A casual pizzeria lunch was the perfect setting to break the ice, and the connection felt online carried over into life without skipping a beat, and soon a relationship formed. For five years their relationship became long-distance, and it was during this time that Kelci realized Nicholas was “the one” when he “was the first thing I thought about every morning and I wanted to talk to him every second of the day…”

Tell us how you met and all about the proposal. We met online at OkCupid.com in December 2011. We initially planned to attend a local holiday party together as a first date. However, I developed a fever after getting a flu shot earlier that day, and ended up having to cancel at the last minute (Nick always rolls his eyes and makes air quotes with his hands when I tell this part of our story). A couple of days later, Nick went out of town to be with family for the holidays, so our first date was not until almost a month later. We met for lunch at a local pizzeria in Atlanta. Five of the following six years of our relationship were long-distance; initially a 1 1/2 drive, and then a 1 1/2 flight. However, we were determined to be together and, in March 2016, Nick proposed at Yonah Mountain Vineyards in the Northern Georgia mountains.
How did you know they were “the one”? After moving out of state for my predoctoral internship in clinical psychology, Nick was the person I missed the most. He was the first thing I thought about every morning and I wanted to talk to him every second of the day.

Ephesians 5:28,29 – 28. In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. A man who loves his wife loves himself, 29. for no man ever hated his own body,* but he feeds and cherishes it, just as the Christ does the congregation,
