How did you meet? Keva and Leo met in 2017 when Leo was still abroad in Florida studying and working at Bethune-Cookman University. This was a very difficult time in Leo’s life as he was trying to figure out his next transition. Keva reached out to Leo on March 10, 2017, when she inquired about her birthday photos in July. Initially Keva wanted to shoot in Nassau, Yet Leo insisted to shoot in her hometown Bimini…the rest is history.
Tell us your proposal story. I proposed to Keva in Bimini, Bahamas on June 17, 2018. God guided me a day prior in a dream telling me the urgency of courting Keva. So me and my good friend, Guido, orchestrated a surprise trip to Bimini the next day.
When I arrived on the island it was so stressful and nerve-racking, Gudio wasn’t able to pick up me because he was at church. So I caught a taxi to the church with all of my suitcases, everyone was pretty shocked with they saw me in a full suit. One of my most scariest moments for the day was when the surprise almost got ruined when I was called up to end church in prayer and Guido’s brother Gilbert was throwing signs, “are you going to do it!” Luckily God had my back and it was avoided.
Later that day Keva and I went out for lunch and relaxed. I tried all day to convince Keva to go out to dinner which she tried to avoid at every call. However, with the help off some friends she gave in and I planned to go to a restaurant but it would have made a big issue with the surprise. So I convinced her to eating sushi at the Hilton Resort.
Keva is very, very intuitive so I was trying to keep on my poker face all day. She looked so nice that I suggested that I wanted to take some photos of her on the balcony during sunset. Where I had one of her closest friends sing us a song, while her close friends and family lined off the boardwalk over-looking the jacuzzi where I asked Keva to continue her life with me in marriage.
For the wedding, we will be returning where it all started: Bimini, which is a special place for us but especially for Keva. We are beyond excited for our future (including hopefully a German Shepard or a cat in the not-too-distant future), and can’t wait to continue exploring life together alongside our family and friends. Keeping Christ at the center of our life always.
Describe your engagement session. Our session was really casual, we just wanted to be “in front of the camera,” which is taking a different look for me from usually being behind the camera as a photographer.
What did you do on your first date? We went to the movies.
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple? Worship God!
How has wedding planning been so far? It’s actually been pretty fun, bonding and planning our lives together.
Tell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day. I’m honestly looking forward to finally being able to call Keva my wife, dancing and traveling, doing photography.
