Khadjiah and Vincent’s love story began as high school sweethearts in Miami, where their first encounter was a shared legal introduction course. For Vincent it was love at first sight, but Khadijah had some initial reservations. In time Vincent, through acts of love, trust and support, would come to win the heart of Khadijah – leading them down the path of happily ever after. Some of the couples fondest wedding memories include dancing with family and friends during the reception in a beautiful mix of American and Jamaican heritages.

Tell us how you met and all about the proposal. The story of Khadijah and Vincent began in the fall of 2006 in Miami, FL. As fate would have it, they met on the first day of high school, and found themselves sitting through an introduction to the legal magnet program, run by Vince’s mom. Always an eager student, the young and petite Khadijah beelined for an open seat in the front of the class, a seat that happened to be right in front of Vince. Even before exchanging words, Vince knew that she was the one. Unfortunately, Khadijah did not seem to be on the same page. She did not sense the same chemistry that Vince did and could not get over that fact that his mom was their teacher. Nevertheless, Vincent was persistent and strategic, playing the best friend role until he could eventually win Khadijah’s heart.
For the proposal, it was July 2015, Vince attended Khadijah’s family reunion in Jamaica to meet the rest of her family and learn more about his girlfriend’s Jamaican culture. On his last night in Jamaica, he planned a candle-lit dinner for her immediate family where he professed his love for her and asked her to become his lifetime friend, confidant, and partner. Khadijah graciously accepted because she knew that her 2011 dream would finally come true.
How did you know they were “the one”? One night in 2011, Khadijah dreamt about her wedding. She could imagine it all: walking down the aisle, the white dress, and her groom. Surprisingly it was the image of her groom that shocked her. She saw Vince! No matter how much Khadijah tried to ignore it, the dream stayed on a loop, playing over and over in her head. It was as if God himself was saying, “Look! There he is. Your husband. It’s Vince.” At that moment, she knew that he was the one.
