How did you meet? Anthony first saw Khyrista in 2011 at a college graduation, and at the time only saw her from a distance. Five years later through mutual friends Anthony and Khyrista finally exchanged numbers and agreed to meet in Atlanta for New Years with a group of friends for their first date. After meeting it was as if they had known each other forever, and couldn’t believe it took them that long to meet. After the start of the new year Khyrista and Anthony were inseparable.

Tell us your proposal story. Khyrista went to Ft. Myers, Florida for a Medical Conference in the spring of 2018. Anthony agreed to meet her a few days later after his work week to spend some quality time with her. When Khyrista arrived to Ft. Myers, Anthony set up flowers for her when she arrived with a love note. Once he arrived days later, Anthony had “question cards” for Khyrista to answer. If Khyrista got the answer right, she got a gift. After many question and prizes throughout the day, Anthony surprised Khyrista on the beach with “marry me” gold balloons when he popped the question amongst the gorgeous sunset, April 13, 2018. His last question Khyrista had to answer on the beach was ” where did I propose?”, and of course Khyrista was in awe.

Describe your engagement session. Yes we wanted to be really chic for our engagement photoshoot! Anthony and I enjoy dressing up every once in a while (since we are usually wearing medical scrubs almost everyday!) – so it was fun dressing up and coordinating for such a beautiful photoshoot.

What did you do on your first date? We met in Atlanta for our first date and decided to make it a full day of events. We went to the Atlanta aquarium, Coco-Cola factory and to “Atlanta breakfast Club” for brunch, ending the day with dinner at “Chinese Buddah”, downtown Atlanta.

What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple? When we first met, I was very busy with finishing medical school, so our weekend time was a prized gem. We love trying out new restaurants on our weekly date nights and travel as much as possible.

How has wedding planning been so far? We lucked out and paired with a great wedding planner named Hannah Schumm from Khyrista’s hometown (Kansas City). She has made this wedding process so much easier. Also, Khyrista has a wonderful set of friends who have all been very supportive and helpful with the planning.

Tell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day. We talk about this all the time. We are SO excited about the big day, but most excited about seeing each other everyday. We look forward to regular days when we can go to the gym together, church, cook and just live life.
