Celebrating three years of marriage, Kia and Kyle were brought together as husband and wife in a beautiful Baltimore ceremony in 2015. Looking back, the loving couple stresses the importance of communication and support as keys to keeping a happy and healthy home environment. To keep the spark alive they make sure to set time aside just for the two of them, either through a formal date night or a casual evening together – focusing only on each other. Enjoy this elegant, fun and formal anniversary photoshoot as they look forward to enjoying many more wonderful years together…
Wife & Husband: Kia & Kyle
Wedding Date: October 23, 2015
Wedding Location: Mount Lebanon Baptist Church in Baltimore, MD.
Reception Location: Martin’s Valley Mansion in Cockeysville, MD
What was your wedding like? It was everything we ever wanted. I originally did not want a wedding because I had been married before, but this was Kyle’s first and last marriage, so I wanted him to have the experience. Although it was about us, we made it a point to honor his deceased father and I had special words with my bonus daughter.
As you celebrate your anniversary, what do you remember most about your wedding day? Kyle would say the reception because everyone had so much fun. I would have to say the most memorable part for me was the ceremony. It was really beautiful
Was there anything you would have done differently for your wedding? Yes, we would have started on time regardless of who was not there…just kidding! Although I am a very punctual person, our wedding started late. We had it on a Friday evening and some important people were coming from out of town. They ended up stuck in traffic so we were about 45 minutes late.
What are your favorite things to do as a couple? We met with him playing music for a group I sang with so music always brings us together. We also love watching TV shows together and just hanging out being silly.
Who cooks? You are trying to get me in trouble! I do the bulk of the cooking, but he really wants us to start cooking meals together so we need to do that.
Do you have any children or pets? We have two girls. Logan is one (she will be two on 12/3/18) and Kay’Den is nine. No pets however, we want to try for a boy, but if it is another girl, Kyle said he is getting a dog!
When it comes to career, what do you both do and how do you make time for each other? I am an IT Specialist at the Social Security Administration and Kyle works for the Baltimore City Health Department as a Hearing and Vision Technician for Baltimore City Schools. He also is a musician and plays for our church as well as various artists. We try to have date nights and we use the time when our youngest goes to sleep to reconnect. We definitely need to do a better job of making time for each other and not letting the monotony of daily life get in the way.
What would you say are the most important elements for a successful marriage? Communication Communication Communication! If you can talk it out, you can work it out (that was a word right there!)
How do you keep the spark in your marriage? We struggle with that, real talk, but again, we try to make it a point to connect. When we feel like we are losing the spark, which can happen to everyone, we go on a date or just commit to spending some time together, no talk about kids or the home…just us.
Tell us about the shoot. What inspired it? We wanted to do something nice and had not taken pics with just the two of us in a while. Grown and sexy was definitely the look we went for and Kellie bought it to life as usual.
What do you love most about each other? I love Kyle’s drive, love for the Lord, and the fact that he chases his dreams. Kyle loves my support, heart, and my organizational skills.
What advice can you give for newlyweds? Keep God first and remember to communicate. Try not to go to bed angry. The bible says “never let the sun go down on your wrath,” but that is easier said than done so at least try!
