Krystal and Alonzo’s dreamy tropical garden wedding in Marigot Bay, St. Lucia features custom fashion and romantic pink blooms!
Krystal and Alonzo met through their close friends at a football-watching hangout on a Sunday afternoon in 2014. Both are passionate football fans and it didn’t take long for friendly banter to flow smoothly between them.
Despite feeling a spark, neither one made the first move before the night ended. A couple of months later, thanks to their friends, they had the chance to meet again and Alonzo didn’t miss his chance to express his intentions to Krystal.
For nine years their relationship deepened and bloomed through many challenges. On April 23, 2023, Alonzo asked Krystal to be his forever during an intimate dinner.
He whipped out the ring and stated he wanted us to remain best friends for life…I had visited for the weekend so he had been attempting to ask me since I had landed in Chicago. I told him that I would forever be his and at that moment I knew we would be partners until the end of time.

How did you meet?
Alonzo and I met through two of our close friends during the 2014 football season on a Sunday Afternoon. We sparked a connection during a friendly debate about football and found ourselves intrigued by one another, but never expressed our true admiration before the night was over.
However, we did confide in our friends about our hopes of meeting again. Two months later we would have the chance to reconnect, in which Alonzo made it perfectly clear to me about his intentions of pursuing a romantic relationship.
We spent the next nine years building an unbreakable bond. Our love would be tested through long-distance and career changes. However, our friendship and love were able to withstand whatever came our way. On April 23rd, 2023, Alonzo asked me to be his forever love and wife.
Tell us about the proposal.
Alonzo planned a dinner at the restaurant where we had our last Valentine’s date. Devon Steakhouse was empty that night so we were secluded. He ordered a special drink and upon the drink’s arrival, he whipped out the ring and stated he wanted us to remain best friends for life. He was nervous at first and just stared at me. I had visited for the weekend so he had been attempting to ask me since I had landed in Chicago. I told him that I would forever be his and at that moment I knew we would be partners until the end of time.
Did you incorporate any culture into your wedding?
We wanted to incorporate jumping the broom to pay homage to our ancestral heritage.
What was your wedding shopping experience like?
I had been working on a wedding Pinterest board for years lol. So my obsession allowed me to over-prepare months in advance. Wedding dress shopping was intentional and magical. It was only right that I chose my dress from Iconic Bride because I knew my wedding would be iconic!
The suiting was a little difficult due to the suit color choice of being pink. Indochino was able to create the perfect suit for our vision.
What are your favorite details about the wedding style and decor?
I adored the ceremony location, the floral arrangements lining the aisle, the charming telephone booth, the audio phone for guests to leave heartfelt messages, the lovely shades of pink, gold accents, the elegant gold O-back chairs, the custom-made magazine photo booth, and the beautifully color-coordinated guests.
What was the best memory from your wedding?
Bride: The moment I saw the groom crying loving tears at the altar as he stared into my eyes.
Groom: When Krystal first came down the aisle. She was looking as if she and the flowers were floating.
What is the best advice you can give to engaged couples?
Please hire a planner! They will remember the details and can maneuver you through the stress.
