Showcasing the breathtaking views of the mountains of Malibu and nestled amongst the lush gardens of the Stone Mountain Estate, Jasmine and Wayne’s intimate garden party wedding was a whimsical vision out of a fairytale!
Jasmine and Wayne first met at a Black student luncheon at the University of South Carolina. Jasmine was an incoming freshman and Wayne was a session leader. Wayne gave Jasmine a tour of the freshmen’ dorm facilities and it didn’t take long for a spark to ignite between them.
While traveling together in Paris, Wayne planned a special photoshoot in front of the Eiffel Tower. Jasmine assumed he wanted to have photos to look back on since it was his first trip to France and didn’t have any suspicions of a proposal.
They asked us to do a pose with our backs to one another and eyes closed. A few moments passed and they told us to open our eyes. To my surprise, Wayne was in front of me on one knee with the biggest smile I’d ever seen…

How did you meet?
We first met at an incoming Black student luncheon at the University of South Carolina. Wayne was a session leader, and I was an incoming freshman. He lived in Preston Residential College which was a very sought-after dorm on campus and my first choice in freshman housing. He gave me and my mom a tour of the facilities and the rest is history.
Tell us about the proposal.
We went to the Eiffel Tower for what I thought was just a regular photoshoot. It was his first time in Paris, so I thought he just wanted to make this part of the trip more special. When we arrived, two photographers were waiting and we began taking pictures. About halfway through, they asked us to do a pose with our backs to one another and eyes closed. A few moments passed and they told us to open our eyes. To my surprise, Wayne was in front of me on one knee with the biggest smile I’d ever seen, asking me to marry him.
Describe your wedding attire.
I wore a custom Winnie Couture dress. We took two sample dresses and combined them to create the drop waist silhouette. The stylists at Winnie Couture were amazing. They were so patient and helpful throughout the process. Wayne wore a custom Zegna white blazer and black trousers. To match our garden party theme, he opted for the loafers and no-show socks vs. the more formal lace-up shoe look.
What is your favorite memory from your wedding day?
The best memory we had was our private first look and vow exchange. We are a more private couple when it comes to special and intimate moments. It was so meaningful to have this time for just the two of us.
What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples?
The best advice we could give is to follow your heart. Do not feel confined to typical wedding norms and traditions. This is your day so make the decisions that best suit you and your spouse. We would also recommend simply having fun in the process. Wedding planning can be a huge commitment but remember why you’re celebrating and that you get to experience it with your best friend.
