It was just a normal night out for Sarah when she met Kwaku, where she quips that he commandeered her phone number. “After a series of phone calls and realizing that he didn’t instantly turn me off, and was actually a nice guy I decided to go out on a friendly date with him. We went to the cinema at the 02 Greenwich, I was nervous, so nervous in fact I spilt my drink on myself, but he was a perfect gentleman and even helped me clean myself up.”
The couple took things slowly, developing a friendship through constant communication. They lost touch for a few months during which Kwaku had moved back to Ghana. “When I finally managed to reach out to him via Facebook he then told me he had moved. It actually turned out to be perfect timing as I had literally just booked to go on a girls holiday to Ghana, so we arranged to meet up while I was there. What started out as a friendship soon blossomed into a holiday romance and then into a committed long distance relationship, with us both travelling between London and Ghana when we could.”
Sarah and Kwaku used the city where they first met to capture their love in this landmark engagement session. From the London Eye to the Hungerford Bridge, take a look at their beautiful engagement shoot.

Tell us all about the proposal!
He arranged to visit London to spend Christmas with me, his intention was to officially ask my parents for their blessing. I kind of knew he was planning to propose but didn’t know when or where he would finally pop the question. This led to me being quite jumpy throughout the entire Christmas period, wondering when he would finally ask me the all important question. We got to New Year’s Eve and still no ring, this is when I started to give up all hope that he would ask, especially since he was due to return back to Ghana at the end of the month. We went to church for the New Year’s Eve service and afterwards went for a drive along the river….and still no question…we returned home, me dejected and him a little bit quieter than normal. Just as I was ready to kiss the night goodbye and give up all hope of starting the new year officially engaged, I turned around and he was pulling out a ring from his pocket and getting down on one knee. At this point I burst into tears and he proceeded to tell me that had been carrying the ring around all night waiting for the perfect moment to present it to me, but as the night went on he could tell that I was getting more and more expectant, hence ruining his surprise which is why he kept putting it off, until finally he thought if I don’t give this ring to her now she might actually stop speaking to me…..moral of the story is patience is key lol!
What is the theme of your wedding?
Our colour theme is white and gold with a hint of deep red, it will also have a dash of old Hollywood glitz & glamour.
What have you learned throughout the wedding planning process?
Everyone always says it but hiring a wedding planner is the best thing I ever did. As much as I think I’m a pretty calm and level headed person, even I can get stressed out, my planner really helped keep me calm throughout the planning process. She also helped me find all the right vendors and helped me make decisions in every area. Sometimes the hardest thing is simply choosing what it is you want, it’s great to have someone else who knows your tastes to help you make your decision.
Congrats to Sarah and Kwaku on their engagement! We adore these photos and can’t wait to see their wedding.
