Tell us how you met and all about the proposal. We met my freshman year (his sophomore year) in college at Furman University! He snatched me up early!
For the proposal, Sterling selflessly proposed to me on HIS birthday with all of our close friends and family present. He tricked me into thinking we would just be taking “birthday photos.” Instead we were met with our friends and families waiting for us at the end of the photo-shoot. Each with candles in hand and one of our favorite love songs playing in the background. Needless to say, I was in complete shock and I was able to say YES, to the love of my life in front of the most important people in our lives.
What was the wedding shopping experience like for you? Our wedding style was classic elegance. No matter what year we look back on our photos, we wanted it to still look and feel timeless. I actually found my dress at the first bridal shop I went to and it was also the very first dress I tried on. My mother, sister, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law accompanied me while my other sister-in-law was my bridal consultant.
Wedding party gifts: Bridesmaids received earrings and a robe for getting ready. Groomsmen received whiskey stones.
Gifts for each other: The bride received a pandora charm bracelet and the groom received boudoir photos.
Ceremony entrance song: The bride entered to a live version of ‘The Only Reason’ by JP Cooper
First dance song: “Still” by Mali Music
What is your best memory from your wedding? Seeing him as I walked down the aisle. The way he cried was totally unexpected. And getting the reception started with swag surfing was definitely one for the books.
What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples? Don’t forget to have fun with each other. The stress of wedding planning can get to your head and cause a lot of tension to build up. Despite this, always remember still date and love on each other throughout the process.
