Doesn’t it just stink when you have a crush on someone and s/he doesn’t even know who you are? It’s not the best feeling in the world, is it? Well, this love story started somewhat like this, until the tables were turned and the “crusher” became the “crushee” and then eventually, they just became … two people very deeply in love.
This beautiful engagement session was captured by Cole Effect Photography who did an awesome job. Be sure to check out his blog.
The Bride: Latrice Doctor
The Groom: Steven Chambers

Date of E-Session Shoot: 01.29.2012

The Meeting … “Most people think that we are high school sweethearts because of the time we’ve been together (7 years). It didn’t happen that way; we met our senior year of high school from a mutual friend who is now the best man. Prior to being formally introduced, I had a crush on Steven in our first year of high school. He never knew about my crush and we did not know each other. We both went to the same high school for 4 years without bumping into one another. We were finally introduced in our last year of high school by our mutual friend.
One day Steven came to my class and asked if we could talk. As we walked down the hallway, Steve told me he was interested in me and wanted my phone number. We spoke a few times and started to build a friendship. Steven then asked me to be his date at the prom, but I denied that request… At the prom, there was something about Steven that caught my attention. After the prom Mr. Chambers won me over and now I am the soon-to-be Mrs. Chamber. I could not deny that request. LOL… The rest is History.”
The Proposal … “On May 28, 2011 at 2:23 AM, I was awakened by a cell phone light and the sounds of movement in our bedroom closet. When I realized what was going on, I got up and went into the living room (not realizing Steve’s plan was to keep me asleep). Instead of walking inside the closet, I got out of the bed and went into the living room. After a few minutes passed, at 2:28 AM, Steven said “Latrice … Trice … Come Here!” I replied “Yeah, Steve, what is it?” Steve said “Latrice, just come here.”
As I got up to walk into the bedroom, I was stunned with the sound of Here and Now by Luther Vandross. Steve was down on one knee (now dressed in a suit…with a huge smile on his face) and confessed his love to me. He told me how much he loved me and why he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. All I remember were the words “WILL YOU MARRY ME?”
As I stood there in shock, I replied, “Are you serious???” He replied, “Yes, Babe! Let’s do this.” Still standing there in shock and overjoyed with emotions, I answered “YES! Of Course!!!” My Babe went out of his way to change into a suit (in the closet) and proposed at exactly 2:28 AM (My date of birth, February 28).”
The Theme …“The theme of our e-session is “Modern Romance.” The theme reflects our modern style and passion for love. The Renaissance Hotel was perfect because it embodied our classy yet sexy side. One of our favorite shots was the chessboard shot as it symbolized us as a couple making the next move from dating to marriage. Our engagement session allowed us to be ourselves while capturing the essence of our love.”

“There are so many things that I LOVE about Latrice. One thing that stands out is her sense of humor. She always knows what to do and say to make me smile or laugh. Latrice’s loving personality is an ingredient of my happiness.”
“I love that Steven is confident, generous and compassionate. He is a true partner and never hesitates to put us first. I love that he loves me, but more than that, I love that he makes me better.”
