If you’re looking for a unique business retreat that stresses being comfy, relaxed, and leveling up in your career, LB Innovations’ 6th Annual Sweatpants and Chill Retreat is exactly where you’ll want to be!
On November 17th-19th, 2023, Muna Coterie member LaTasha Briscoe of LB Innovations is hosting her 6th annual Sweatpants and Chill Retreat at the Hyatt Regency Resort and Spa in Cambridge, Maryland.
Founded in 2017, the Sweatpants and Chill Retreat challenges your typical business conference. Inspired by her own experiences, LaTasha strived to create a judgement-free space to cultivate genuine community. Therefore, instead of emulating a one-dimensional work conference, she created “a mind, body, soul, and business experience.”
The Sweat Pants and Chill Retreat is centered around bringing men and women together in a safe space to relax, relate to like minded individuals, and release the stressors holding them back from reaching their full personal and professional goals.

At the Sweatpants and Chill Retreat, standard dress codes are cast aside. Attendees are encouraged to arrive casual and ready to learn. Sweatshirts, sweatpants, and comfy footwear are all welcomed without judgment. The retreat also has a strong virtual community. With online events available, folks can tune in from anywhere in the world (dressed in their own comfy attire, of course!).
Ultimately, attendees can expect a top-notch weekend with ample learning, networking opportunities, and inspiring speakers. Other highlights include a welcome reception and after-party, interactive workshops, a VIP dinner, a Praise Brunch, live entertainment, and customized gifts. And it all takes place in the relaxing Hyatt Regency Resort and Spa for a truly immersive and rejuvenating experience!

Why “Sweatpants and Chill” (SPC) you may ask?
Well, the Founder and Visionary, LaTasha Briscoe, had found herself attending back to back conferences and events in her industry as a presenter, speaker or attendee. While the content or theme may have varied, she found that certain industry events always had a few things in common: the same people showed up and they always dressed to impress. But WHY!?!
So SPC was created to give people the space to RECEIVE all that content, make those connections, grow their network, get healed, release what was holding them back and join a genuine community without having to wear “suits, ties, and makeup” in a judgment free zone!
We have recently expanded our audience to include men as we noticed the male perspective was missing in our conversations. The past two years have featured male experts in topics such as personal and professional relationships, self-care, finances and entrepreneurship.
“Mind, Body, and Business” – what do each of these mean to you? And why should attendees implement these concepts into their business modules?
During the retreat, we bring together experiences and experts designed to walk attendees through the steps needed for whole body healing. Some attendees join us for self-care while others need to work on their business. In any regard, each session, presentation and activity is designed around building your mind, body, business and spirit through connected activities.
Do you think that wearing comfy clothes should be more acceptable in the workplace?
Absolutely! I totally understand there is a time and place for certain attire, but I honestly believe there should be more focus on content, output, and effort over how you look when you are getting the job done.
Of course, there will always be instances where a suit and tie is the expected dress code. But for creatives that need to just brain dump and collect our thoughts, there should be a dedicated space when sleeves are rolled up and the work is getting done!
From your experience, does attire influence workplace productivity or lack-there-of? And how can it increase making connections and creating community?
I think dresscode is evolving from a standard way of representation to a more unique and individualized approach to presentation. There used to be a time when slacks were the standard for men and skirts were the standard for women to be considered “professional” attire.
I love how creatives, whether in a professional context or just individuals expressing themselves, have decided to flip the game and show the corporate world that creativity is an outward expression that can show up and get the job done.
The Sweatpants and Chill Retreat (SPC) has adopted and grown from the concept to encourage professionals to be okay with representing your personal brand not only as an entrepreneur but in the corporate world to ensure you are showing up authentically.
As this is your 6th annual Sweatpants and Chill retreat, what can attendees expect to experience this year? What will they learn?
SPC was originally designed for small business owners, entrepreneurs, and boss ladies that were juggling a career and needed a space to recharge. Our experience has evolved through time and demand by our attendees. It has become a space where men (yes, we have opened the doors because the male perspective is necessary) and women can connect to experience our focus areas as a whole person’s growth journey.
In other words… Your personal life has to be healthy and intact in order to ensure your professional life grows as expected while dedicating time to your self-care and spiritual well-being. It all must work together. Then we deep dive into the details during our events and experiences.
We have AMAZING speakers and presenters, Relevant topics for Home, Business, and Personal Life. Real Techniques and Engaging Methods that you will learn and try during the retreat.
What do you hope people feel when they enter the space and once they leave?
I want people to feel included, comfortable, and ready when they walk into the room.
First time attendees never know what to expect, but I hope that through our many opportunities to network, they meet new people, realize they are not alone in many of the challenges we all face, and accept the opportunity to be a part of this growing community of accountability partners.
Who will be speaking at this year’s retreat? Any notable guests/speakers we can look out for?
We will begin announcing our speakers in June. We are still accepting applications from men and women that are experts in health, wellness, finances, relationships, self-care, and business. Find out more about being a sponsor, or partner, or to attend here.
