“It’s really about control, my body, my mind. Who was going to own it? Them? Or me? I’m not a one-man woman. Bottom line.”
-Nola Darling
Styled at The Fork Goes on the Left HQ in Brooklyn, this styled shoot was inspired by the witty and vivacious Nola Darling, in an entertaining twist for her lovers with a not so ordinary backyard BBQ. “She’s Gotta Have It,” a Netflix series spurred by the 1986 original movie under the same title, follows Chef Mellanee and fellow creatives who coordinated and crafted an ultimate feast of desire and harvest in the inspiration of a “Spike Lee Joint.” You can taste the sweet, crisp appletini, or the citrusy tang of homemade salsa, the fresh, roasted corn, and even the tart, juicy peppers. It may be early October, but your heart is still yearning for the summer sun on your back, the vibrancy of flowers, and the fresh foods for your dinner plate. Take a peek below and gaze over the colorful, delectable spread, then afterward, set up a spot in the backyard or kitchen, and cook your love something spectacular!
