Elisha’ba and Delvyn didn’t spare any details in their luxe Virginia wedding at the picturesque and black-owned Salamander Resort – killer pantsuit included. Plus, they an all-star team of all black wedding vendors.
There was a time when having a wedding that consisted of all black vendors was difficult to achieve. As the leading multicultural wedding publication, helping you find qualified black and brown vendors has always been top of our list, so it’s refreshing to read from a bride like Elisha’ba and learn that she was able to source all vendors of color for her wedding, including the venue!
Scroll down to see how Elisha’ba and Delvyn’s dreams for an elegant “black-excellence” themed were brought to life.

Tell us about the proposal
We talked about getting married a couple of times before…but nothing serious. At his brother’s wedding last year, he mentioned he would be the best husband ever. I, of course, laughed it off. We were traveling to Philly for the “Made in America” Festival over Labor Day weekend. Two weeks prior, Delvyn asked me to move our reservation to 1 day earlier so we could have dinner with some colleagues. When we arrived in Philly, he told me his friends canceled last minute. I immediately assumed we should cancel the reservation? Delvyn stated no, we’re still going…
Now I know why he was so adamant about it. When dessert came out on the plate it read “will you marry me”? Of course, I said YES!!!
Wedding Style: What was the wedding shopping experience like for you?
Our wedding style was “black excellence”. We used all black vendors. Our ceremony was at the Salamander Resort in Middleburg. Our attire was provided by Miguel Wilson (Groom & groomsmen). Brides attire: Tk bridal Atlanta (dress with 10 ft train), and Topfrn via Nigeria. ( I wore a bedazzled jumpsuit with a cape).
Culture
We had praise dancers to usher in the holy spirit and of course, we jumped the broom.
Best Memories
When I changed to my second outfit. I was able to let go and really enjoy myself.
