What would you say are the most important elements for a successful marriage? For Kabiru and Abike it is their faith.
Being married for ten years and having two healthy children is definitely a cause for celebration, but they give all of the credit to God. They share, “GOD. Like literally, we know that it’s because of Him that we are together and successfully together. We both have our individual relationships with Him so He guides us.”
To commemorate 10 years of faith, love, and marriage Kabiru originally wanted to have a fabulous a photoshoot with his wife in Paris, he shares, “It was supposed to be a surprise for Kabiru, in Paris with the Eiffel Tower as a backdrop, but the COVID-19 pandemic changed our plans last minute.” So, they had a fabulous photoshoot in London instead, and the results were just as stunning and meaningful.
During their shoot, Kabiru and Abike surprised each other with rings. It was a sweet moment and yet another example of how in tune they are with each other. See all of the lovely photos from their anniversary shoot below, and read their reflections on marriage and their advice for new couples.

We both run our own businesses: Kabiru owns a bespoke men’s tailoring company kabiruabu.com and Abike runs an online shea butter store BixiePots.com and also works as a bridal hairstylist. Our work is flexible so we are blessed that we are able to put family first.
What would you say are the most important elements for a successful marriage?
GOD. Like literally, we know that it’s because of Him that we are together and successfully together. We both have our individual relationships with Him so He guides us. Remembering that you are both on the same team and working towards a common goal. It is important to us that our children see a healthy, fun, strong marriage.

How do you keep the spark in your marriage?
Hmm staying close, dating, staying tender towards each other.
Tell us about the shoot. What inspired it?
It was supposed to be a surprise for Kabiru, in Paris with the Eiffel Tower as a backdrop, but the COVID-19 pandemic changed our plans last minute. However, we believe this shoot came out as the best. We simply wanted to commemorate ‘US’ at 10 years and renew our vows to each other privately.
