Maddy and Dennis tied the knot at their micro rooftop wedding surrounded by close family and stunning views of downtown Seattle and the waterfront!
The couple met online during the shelter in place mandates at the beginning of the pandemic.
Since we met online, I remember glancing at him and thinking… Oh wow, he’s cute (and he has a captivating smile that got me on day one).
Maddy
After receiving blessings from their elders, Dennis proposed to Maddy during a Zoom call with extended relatives.
Both his family and my family were on the call, so it was beautiful that they all got to share in the moment with us.

From the gorgeous fashion to the white and blush bouquet and floral decor, everything was of the utmost elegance at their intimate rooftop wedding.

How did you meet?
The first time I saw him, we were both in different time zones during the shelter in place mandates, and he was probably at work in his “Bob the Builder” hat (he is an engineer).
Since we met online, I remember glancing at him and thinking… Oh wow, he’s cute (and he has a captivating smile that got me on day one).
We started talking, although he took his sweet time to respond. For a moment I was certain I would never hear from him again. But he came around and now he won’t stop talking…
The rest is history!
The Propsal
We had a zoom call with my extended family where we culturally received the blessings from the elders to get wed. After the blessings were given, he proposed! Both his family and my family were on the call, so it was beautiful that they all got to share the moment with us.
Wedding Style
Elegant! The bouquet was white flowers with accents of blush. My dress was off-white and he wore a tuxedo. My dress and veil were both custom-made by the wonderful local designer, Morgan Phimpiela, at Cicada bridal.
Culture
They are both Kenyan but did not incorporate any culture. They just wanted to make sure that most of their wedding vendors were Black- including their non-denominational officiant.
