How they met…
Shani and Chris first connected on the dating app Hinge.
The proposal…
On their dating anniversary (December 21st), Chris planned a surprise dinner for Shani in his apartment. Unknown to Shani, Chris had a secret proposal planned!
Chris originally told Shani they were going out to a restaurant’s private room to celebrate their anniversary; however, when she arrived she was shocked to see he’d set up the loft area of his home for them to have a private dinner. The intimate setting was perfect for popping the question!
After their meal, Chris gave Shani a book he created for them. Shani recalls: “As I read through it, he positioned himself behind me. When I arrived at the final page, the book asked me to be his wife and when I turned around he was on one knee with the ring.”
She said yes and the rest is history!
When they knew they were “the one”…
Shani admits they talk about this question often.
For them, “there was no one moment, but a collection of moments throughout [their] relationship that made [them] both feel secure enough to be [their] truest selves.”
She adds: “This, for both of us, was it!”
The first date…
On their first date, the couple went to a bar in Atlanta, Golden Eagle.
Ironically, Shani recalls laughing: “It was at the bar on our first date that Chris told me he didn’t drink alcohol.”
Favorite thing to do as a couple…
In their free time, Shani and Chris keep things simple with a good movie or TV series.
Shani says, laughing: “Honestly, we love to lay on the couch together and watch a movie or Netflix series.”
Wedding planning so far…
While wedding planning during COVID-19 has presented some challenges, Shani and Chris are ultimately enjoying the wedding planning process.
Shani admits while “wedding planning has had its challenges… overall it has been pretty cool seeing [everything] come together.”
What they’re looking forward to most on their wedding day…
On their special day, Shani and Chris are most “looking forward to celebrating with [their] families and close friends.”
