“Alvin was my first love,” recalls Courtney with affection, reflecting on their initial meeting as playground-sweethearts in the sixth grade. Remaining good friends for over fifteen years, they decided to follow their hearts and take the relationship to the next level – and have never looked back remaining inseparable ever since. Courtney and Alvin are looking forward to celebrating their marriage with family and friends as they embark on the journey of husband and wife.

Tell us how you met. Alvin was my first love. We met in 6th grade at Kenilworth Middle School. Within the first few weeks of school someone was throwing balls of paper at me and one day I turned around super fast (while also giving myself whip flash!) and there he was mid-throw. Over the last fifteen years Alvin and I remained good friends. January 2016 we found each other and began to date again.

Tell us about the proposal. February 14, 2016 he “told me” he loved me with balloons (eye roll). Next thing I know it’s my family’s annual Thanksgiving trip to Disney World and he is on one knee at Animal Kingdom during the light show. The grin on his face was priceless.

Describe your engagement session. Our engagement session was so fun. Alvin talked about it all the way home. It was really hard for me not to laugh because he has never been so serious and concentrated EVER. We sort’ve had a theme. Our entire wedding is Princess and the Frog, so we just went for princess glam (hence, Tiana wore a green & champagne gown).

What did you do on your first date? Thirteen Gates in 6th Grade…I was so scared I push him through the entire building.

What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple? EAT! We have all the same favorite foods and everything.

How has wedding planning been so far? Wedding planning has been really fun. His only rule is “I’m not wearing anything pink!”

Tell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day. The smile on his and our boys’ faces, and turning up with our wild family and friends!
