TGIM Giveaway: Necklace from Sara Gabriel Veils

Happy Monday or should we say, TGIM?  We’ve got another fabulous giveaway this week and we’re sure you are going to drool all over this work of art from Sara Gabriel. We’ve worked with her in the past and totally adore her pieces!

So what are we giving away? This gorgeous SWAROVSKI shoulder necklace.  It’s so versatile in the way it can be worn, and certainly can add some flair to your bridal look, especially if you’re planning to wear a strapless piece or change into one for the reception.  The necklace is valued at $297.  Read our interview with Sara Gabriel below.

How did you get started and what did you do before starting your company?

My journey feels like the most unlikely of possible stories, but I love every step of it! I was in graduate school working toward a PhD in Political Economy and had just come off a year at a political think-tank in Washington, D.C. when I decided–literally on the spur of the moment–to drop out of grad school, move to Denver (to be with a cute boy who is now my husband of 12 years!) and start my label. My mother taught me to sew when I was very young and I was very creative, but NEVER considered it as a possible career until that moment. I’m not even sure exactly what made me make that sudden decision but now, 15 years later, I still have to pinch myself every morning when I come to my studio!   

What are some of your best selling items?

Despite the size of my collection (over 300 pieces!) we are finding that brides are rocking a traditional look lately and going for the long, lacey veils…Lillian is a favorite carryover from several years ago and Annie, brand new for 2015, is huge! 

Anything else you’d like our readers to know?   

I’m completely obsessed with maintaining our one-at-a-time and completely made-by-hand process. This was easy when we were small, but now we ship around 15,000 individual pieces a year! Making sure the same time, love, and effort are put into each piece when we’re making this many things isn’t easy but it is VERY rewarding and completely worth it! In terms of specific materials, we use exclusively Swarovski crystals, French laces, the highest quality bridal illusion, silk organza, freshwater pearls…I’m very picky when it comes to the quality of the materials that go into my designs!

What’s in your handbag right now?

Hahaha, aside from the usual wallet, makeup and phone I have a list of kids in my 8 year old sons’s class (for making Valentines) and a sculpture that my daughter made at school…I think it’s supposed to be a dinosaur of some kind–that broke over the weekend and was sent with me today to have the tail glued back on!

I’m a die-hard Apple girl 

If you could travel to any location right now, where would it be?

A beach, preferably with a pina colada. 

Favorite thing to do?

I love my job…and I love my family, so anytime I doing one of those two things I’m as happy as a girl can be!

Guilty pleasure?

Tall Mexican Mocha (add a pump of Cinnamon Dolce!) from Starbucks. Drool!
