Featured in MunaLuchi Bridal Magazine, Issue No. 27, this beautiful Miami wedding is full of romance, love, elegance, and fun.
Introduced by a friend, Makeda met Eddie while attending his performance for So You Think You Can Dance S12 Tour in Los Angeles, California. Though they had unknowingly met their soulmate, it would not be until months later that they would meet again at a brunch. Love soon followed after they first became great friends and then inseparable. Then one day Makeda decided to throw a Neon Slumber Party and invited Eddie to come over to assist with decorating. He was committed to every detail and helped her host her friends. It was then that she knew she had found her soulmate.
The proposal took place at Makeda’s mom’s house on Christmas evening. This particular Christmas would be the most memorable of them all. After leaving the house on Christmas night to go to the store, when she returned, Makeda got out of the car and saw sparklers and a Big Santa on the lawn holding something. Unbeknownst to her, Eddie asked her family and friends to help him with the perfect proposal. When she locked eyes with him, they both cried as he asked her to marry him. This special moment does not end there. As this newly engaged couple entered Makeda’s mom’s house, the entire space was decorated and became their engagement party.
This lovely couple said, “I do” during an exquisite and breathtaking outdoor ceremony with the most romantic and classy ambiance. Their ceremony and reception had extraordinary and remarkable floral arrangements. Makeda looked gorgeous walking down the aisle in a show-stopping sparkling gown. In addition, their reception had everything from the groom’s amazing dance for his wife, to guests sneaking Makeda a Trini flag on the dance floor, and ending the celebration with sparklers.

How they met…
My friend Jamal invited me to watch his cousin Eddie perform on So You Think You Can Dance S12 Tour in LA. After the show, Jamal introduced me to Eddie, but the moment was so brief we would both say our first meeting was a few months later in his cousin’s car. Jamal and I were supposed to be going to brunch but he randomly said “I gotta go pick up my cousin”. I wasn’t the happiest about having someone that I didn’t know joining us to eat. With Jamal and I being very close friends and Eddie being his cousin new to town, Eddie and I developed a very cat-and-mouse dynamic because we honestly didn’t like each other at first. As we got to know each other better we became great friends and now we’re inseparable.
Wedding Style…
Romantic, Classy, Fun, and Timeless.
Wedding Dress and Accessories…
While dress shopping, my maid of honor and I named each dress that I tried on. At first, we named my dress “Barbie” and then we renamed her “Show Stopper”. After purchasing the dress, I was walking out and Vilma, the salesperson, said “You know you made a great choice this dress is truly a showstopper.” That was my confirmation. I love the back of my dress the most, I love the vine design that connects with us having a Garden wedding and I love the sparkle in the appliquĂ© because I usually love wearing sequin dresses. My favorite wedding accessory is my earrings because they have two different materials, one part is crystal and the other part is cubic zirconia. I love the special beauty in the earrings when the two materials exist in the same space.
Incorporating culture on the wedding day…
I am from St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Eddie is from Gabon. Our flags coincidentally have the same colors (green, yellow, and blue). My best friend included this in our sand ceremony. He explained the meaning of each color in our flags, as we poured them into a vase, representing the importance of bringing those meanings into our marriage.
