Like most modern couples, Meredith and David met online. Their relationship had a bit of a rocky start when Meredith arrived twenty minutes late for their first date which led David to believe he was being stood up. Luckily, he waited and they had a fantastic evening filled with conversation and romance. They dated for three blissful years before David proposed.

Tell us about how you met and all about the proposal. David and I met the “old fashioned” way: online. After I initiated the first conversation, David eventually asked me out to dinner on U Street. On the night we were set to meet, however, I made the regrettable mistake of driving to U Street. After looking for parking for more than 20 minutes, I arrived to the restaurant just before David was about to leave the restaurant, believing he was being stood up.
After three years of dating, David decided to propose during a romantic trip to Charlottesville, Virginia, home of my alma mater, the University of Virginia. But just days before the trip, I became very ill and the trip was cancelled. Once I was feeling better, David took me out to see the not-at-all romantic movie “Moonlight,” followed by dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, Himitsu. When we arrived back at my apartment, there were flowers and champagne waiting on the counter. David got down on one knee and popped the question!
Describe your engagement session. We feel very fortunate to live in the DC area and have the monuments in our backyard. We wanted to showcase the beauty of our city as well as the beautiful sunrise we are able to see every day. We also wanted to wear patriotic colors since we are in our nation’s capital. Our day started very early (sunrise!) but it was a complete success!
What did you do on your first date? Dinner on a popular street in DC
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple? We LOVE trying out new restaurants. We particularly love trying new sushi places. When we travel, we will seek out the best sushi restaurant and try it out. It is a great way to explore a city and try out an amazing restaurant!
How has wedding planning been so far? Wedding planning has been good so far. We are fortunate to have time on our side! We have booked our major vendors, and will add in finer details as we get closer to our wedding day.
Tell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day. Aside from having all of our family and friends gathered in one place, I’m most looking forward to food, cake, and merriment!
