For Michelle, nothing but God could’ve brought her and Roy together. A few weeks after the passing of a family member, their love story began with an online meeting – it was “true love” from the start… Before friends and family in the house of their faith, the church Pastor called Roy forward where he spoke of relationships, commitment, declared his love for Michelle and asked for her hand in marriage.
The bride’s best wedding memories include “walking down the aisle with a smile because I was so happy…” For future brides & grooms-to-be she advises to “do what is best for the two of you.”

Tell us how you met and all about the proposal. We met online! True love can be created online! We met two weeks after my brother-in-law passed away. Nothing but God could have brought us together! For the proposal Roy picked the highest place you can propose – in church! His family was there and my close friends but I didn’t think anything of it because I just thought they were visiting. As the announcement was being made the Pastor called Roy to the front of the church. I said to myself what is going on? Is he confessing his sins? I wasn’t even thinking about a proposal. When he went to the front of the congregation and started talking about love and commitment I said to myself oh lord what is he doing? Then he called me up front and then I knew what he was doing. I was in shock! I’m a wedding planner and it’s hard to surprise a person like me so for Roy to pull it off was awesome. It was great that family and close friends witnessed the proposal.
What was wedding shopping like for you? My wedding dress was elegant and stylish. The best details are the jewels in the front and back of the dress. Awesome detail! Wedding shopping was great because I’m already in the industry. I truly had support from friends and family. We took over a whole section at David’s Bridal. Knowing your style and color ahead helps with the process. I chose my dress after trying on three dresses.
Did you incorporate any culture into your wedding? We had the southern meets city theme. Roy is from Wilson, NC and I’m from NYC. We incorporated the southern and city look. Our colors were canary yellow and grey.
First dance song: “If This World Were Mine” by Luther Vandross
What is your best memory from your wedding? The best memory is walking down the aisle with a smile because I was so happy and also our first dance. Our first dance we were in our own world and it was official!
What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples? Do what is best for the two of you. It’s great to get other opinions but overall the two of you want to be happy on your special day. Enjoy every moment of the day!
