This sweet midday micro wedding in McKinney, Texas has lots of love, special moments with family, and a purple and blush color palette that’s perfect for spring!
While most people think “everything’s bigger in Texas,” Shannon and Charles’s chose to celebrate their love in an intimate wedding ceremony at the historic Chapel at Chestnut Square. The historic landmark was built in 1908 and has been beautifully preserved and maintained by the City of McKinney ever since. To bring a fresh feeling of spring to their venue, they added elegant touches of dusty purples and blush pinks in their decor.
Surrounded by 35 of their closest friends and family, the pair exchanged vows alongside Shannon’s son, Jeremiah, and after saying I-do, officially became one happy family!
Their entire wedding (only lasting 1.5 hours from the time Shannon arrived to get into her dress, to finishing up their stunning outdoor portrait photos) ended with the newlyweds and their loved-ones heading to the nearby Randy’s Steakhouse in Frisco, Texas, for a night of cocktails and delicious food. They couldn’t have imagined a more perfect day!

How they met…
The proposal…
Charles decided to propose to the love of his life when she’d least expect it: right after work!
When Shannon was getting ready to leave work one day, she noticed something odd in the parking lot. A mob of people were walking through the lot.
She looked at her watch and thought, “it’s after 5… I wonder where those people are going?” Not thinking much of it, she headed outside to go home. Suddenly she noticed the people were actually walking towards her!
“I started to notice my friends, my son, and my then boyfriend. I IMMEDIATELY knew what was about to happen. All I kept saying was, “really?! In the parking lot!””
Of course, she did say yes! And the rest is history.
Wedding Style…
For their wedding looks, the couple wanted something simple and affordable.
Shannon knew she wanted something fitted and that she wanted lace. She ended up finding a gorgeous lace mermaid dress from Grace Loves Lace (Peaches) and later changed into a more casual dress for the reception.
For Charles, he purchased his suit at K&G Fashion and showed off his personality by wearing black Converse sneakers and quirky socks for the ceremony. He later changed into a relaxed gray jacket and sported a cowboy hat for their reception, and “even got Jeremiah a matching cowboy hat so they could be twins at the reception.” It made Shannon’s heart melt!
Best memory from their wedding…
Their favorite memory from their wedding day was “was seeing family and friends in the audience supporting [them].”
Since they “both love spending time with family and friends… having them around was priceless.”
Wedding shopping experience…
For Shannon, her wedding shopping experience was fairly simple.
“I knew what I wanted and I had a budget in mind the entire time.”
The after-party…
Advice for other engaged couples…
Shannon advices: “Don’t sweat the small stuff! Everything will work itself out. I had major anxiety and I went crazy ordering things I thought I needed and that I had to have. Ask for help. I asked for help and life was instantly better.”
