In this art museum wedding styled shoot from Pennsylvania, we are shown how the black & white color scheme will forever remain the most versatile of themes. Simply by itself or as a backdrop to bold colors, the power and elegance of monochromatic is a timeless style that will always bring out the best in your upcoming events. Read all about the design details and inspiration below.
“Black and white; one of the most timeless and versatile color combinations. It’s bold and dramatic. There’s an elegant formality to it that makes it perfect for a classic black-tie affair. Add a splash gold and the combination exudes feminine glamour. However, many couples shy away from this color palette because of the air of formality.
With this design, Jenna Tracy Events wanted to create something showcasing the more playful side of black and white. Paired with bold, bright pinks and oranges, along with touches of stripes, this traditional color palette feels fresh and playful. Oftentimes, couples don’t think about incorporating a pattern into their wedding design, especially stripes because they seem innately preppy. The good news is they aren’t. Stripes work with any style, making as bold or subtle a statement as you like. The result is whimsical and thoroughly modern. Ashley Gerrity Photography did an amazing job capturing the beauty of this modern wedding at the Michener Art Museum.
The bride wore a Justin Alexander gown from Darianna Bridal. An elegantly wrapped bodice and buttons down the back add subtle detail to this classic wedding dress. Coordinating black and cream bridesmaid dresses mirror the elegant simplicity of the bride’s gown. The groom wore a black tuxedo from Darianna Bridal, accented with a textural boutonniere and colorful pink bowtie.
Philly Hair & Makeup and Correra Uzomah ode constructed the traditional wedding updo for the bride and bridesmaids. Loose, face-framing curls and twists add texture and interest without feeling too composed. Statement-Making lip color and a gorgeous wedding band set from L Priori Jewelry were the perfect finishing touches.
This reception space is a modern interpretation of the traditional reception. From the U-shaped layout to the graphic table linen and bright florals, it’s not what guests expect to see. Utilizing a U-shaped layout for the table makes the event feel intimate, yet spacious. Stunning floral arrangements Garnish created with soft pink king protea, orange lilies, and bright pink roses accented with berries and greenery add an eye-catching punch of color. Chic gold flatware and gold-rimmed accent plates from Party Rental Ltd instantly elevate the table.
A custom invitation suite from CalligraPhilly is anything but boring thanks to an unexpected striped envelope liner. A witty “Sip, Sip, Hooray” sign welcomes guests to grab a glass of bubbly and join the fun. Butter Sugar Flour’s cake proves that with a little bit of glitter, a tiny bow, and a few stunning hand-crafted sugar flowers a three-tier cake won’t feel like what your mom had at her wedding.”
