City couple, Koleshcia Nelson, an HR Account Manager and Lorenzo Fitzgerald, a Teacher took to The Grafitti Wall in Downtown Houston, Texas for their exciting engagement session as they celebrated their upcoming nuptials on May 8, 2016 set to take place at the modern, lofty space, 5226 Elm. These college sweethearts are enjoying the wedding planning and are counting down to the big day!
Tell us about how you met and all about the proposal!
We met in a close friend’s dorm room over a game of Spades during our freshman year in college. Lorenzo and I were opponents during a heated game full of trash talking where my partner and I continued to successfully defeat Lorenzo and his partner. Through the trash talk, sparks were flying. We continued to see one another in passing on campus, made small talk and exchanged numbers.
After a long week of coordinating a successful work event, Lorenzo convinced me to have dinner and drinks at our favorite local sushi restaurant to celebrate my achievement. When I walked into the restaurant, I noticed a group of my close friends and I was extremely suspicious after a phone call to my mother and best friend, Naja. Still, my friends and I enjoyed dinner and drinks.
A couple of Long Islands and great sushi later, Lorenzo asked me to say a few words to our friends about my achievement at work. After my extremely long speech, Lorenzo stated that he wanted to make a speech as well. He started by saying that I was an amazing woman, continued by saying how much he loved me and how he thought I was the woman he wanted to spend his life with. Lorenzo continued to share his thoughts of a great life together including kids – all of which I missed since I was crying hysterically because I realized that this was it! After a struggle with getting the boxed ring out of his pocket, me looking on with my smeared mascara, he popped the question.
Both of us are from big cities so we wanted a setting that was urban and close in locale to our current residence.
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple?
We are both food snobs! We love trying new restaurants and Houston is definitely the place to explore new cuisines.
How has wedding planning been so far?
Surprisingly, things have been running smoothly and less stressful than we thought. It’s probably because of our wedding planner Darrell of Events With Darrell being so helpful!
