Wrestling fans Meredith and Anton’s first meeting at a World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) NXT show at the Fillmore in 2019 led to lifelong love and a modern industrial wedding in Philly.
Meredith shares, “Anton was the first to greet me – and, upon chatting – revealed that he had never attended a live wrestling event. I responded, ‘Oh, so you’re hanging with me!'”
After the show, they went to a nearby bar called Barcade and spent four hours together! “The rest is history – we’ve been inseparable ever since.”
Although they discussed marriage, as two divorcees, Meredith didn’t expect Anton to propose. They were simply in love and enjoying life together. However, on a trip to London to celebrate Anton’s birthday, he had a big surprise in store…
“He seemed a little irritated,” Meredith recalls, “so I asked him what was wrong. He said he couldn’t see me as his girlfriend anymore, and that things needed to change. Before I cussed him out for breaking up with me overseas, he got down on one knee and proposed.”
The couple tied the knot last year in a modern industrial wedding at the unique venue, Globe Dye Works, in Philadelphia. They incorporated rich hues of burgundy into their decor and nods to their shared passion for the WWE throughout.

How did you meet?
Anton and I are part of a wrestling fan club, The Mark Out Club. We never met in person until an NXT show at The Fillmore in May of 2019. Anton was the first to greet me – and, upon chatting – revealed that he had never attended a live wrestling event. I responded, “Oh, so you’re hanging with me!”
After the show, no one wanted to get drinks except for Anton. We went to a nearby bar called Barcade – and ended up chatting for 4 hours! The rest is history – we’ve been inseparable ever since.
First look…
Tell us about the proposal.
We had discussed marriage, but as two divorcees, I wasn’t super sure if he wanted to take that leap again. I didn’t really have any ideas on when or if he would propose. I paid for a trip to London for Anton’s birthday back in July 2022. He had never been and I hadn’t been in quite some time. After sightseeing and hanging out with some of my friends, we went back to our hotel room. He seemed a little irritated, so I asked him what was wrong. He said he couldn’t see me as his girlfriend anymore, and that things needed to change. Before I cussed him out for breaking up with me overseas, he got down on one knee and proposed.

The ceremony…
Did you incorporate any culture into your wedding?
We jumped the broom! Super important to honor our ancestors. Anton and I aren’t the most religious – but we come from Christian backgrounds. We incorporated prayer into our ceremony. Our officiant, Garrick, was incredible with that portion. Both Anton’s mom and my grandparents had transitioned years before our wedding – they were all very religious – so it was our little way of honoring them.
What is your best memory from your wedding?
Ah man, looking at all of our friends and family having a great time celebrating us. We still get compliments to this day on how amazing our wedding was! We just wanted our folks to have a good time.
Sweet details…
What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples?
I tell my couples this as a wedding vendor myself. Don’t sweat the small stuff! As The Rock would say… “It doesn’t matter!” No one is going to remember that your floral arch wasn’t perfect or your linens didn’t match your napkins. What you and your spouse will remember is the amazing time you had and the fact that you got to marry your best friend.
