Danielle and Cordero’s luxurious modern Miami wedding featured unique personal details along with sleek touches of black and copper which gave their day bold yet chic vibes.
After the two (who were originally co-workers) became a couple, it was time for them to take the next step on their exciting journey. With the help of family and friends, Codero surprised Danielle with a proposal at a family birthday celebration.
Senior Wedding Planner & Founder of Lux Lifestyle Events, Melisa Brown, and her team of dedicated event professionals brought the couple’s vision to life with showstopping copper and white flowers that adorned the ceremony and formal reception tables. Guests mixed and mingled while enjoying mouthwatering contemporary cuisine from Chef James Lubin and celebrating the newlyweds.

- Gifts for one another: In Cordero’s defense, I forgot to tell him about the gift exchange detail…so there’s that. I gifted him his wedding scent, shoes, liquor for his nerves, a handkerchief for his tears, and a shirt with my face all over it as a reminder of the new property owner.

How did you meet?
Cordero and I worked together at a rehab facility in 2019. He claims, for weeks, he was trying to figure out a way to initiate a conversation with me. Finally, one day he built up the courage and pulled a “where’s my hug” move.
He ended up stepping all over my feet but I thought it was so cute how he tried to convince me that it was on purpose. We’ve been together ever since.

Tell us about the proposal…
Basically, I was being a brat that whole day. We were planning on going to his sister-in-law’s birthday party and all day, he kept on saying: “You should go get your nails done.” I told him I didn’t feel like going to sit in a nail shop… “My nails are fine.”
When it came down to getting ready that evening, I even told him I couldn’t find anything to wear and that he should just go without me. He finally managed to drag me out of the house.
When we got to the birthday party, the guests were playing a game that required you to be blindfolded. They asked if we wanted to join in and we said of course. After it was my turn, I removed my blindfold to find Cordero on one knee holding a rose with an engagement ring in the middle. 11 months later, we tied the knot.

What was the wedding shopping experience like for you?
I found my wedding dress after trying on three wedding dresses. My dress was embellished with pearls and beads all over with an open back and lush overskirt. I loved my overskirt so much that I left it on for most of the reception. It made me feel like a queen that night. Cordero’s shopping experience was pretty simple as well. I gave him strict instructions, he handed those instructions to the sales associate, and within minutes he put together his look for the wedding.

Did you incorporate any culture into your wedding?
We have a huge love for music, so it was very important to us to incorporate music that best reflects that. Me being raised in a Jamaican household, and Cordero coming from New Jersey, we had genres ranging from dancehall to house music.
What is your best wedding day memory?
We both agree that our best memory from our wedding was sharing our vows with each other. Although it was in front of all our guests, I felt like it was just us two, before God, making a commitment to forever love.

What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples?
The best advice we could give engaged couples is to take time to practice your communication skills. Communicate on the budget, your goals, and how you will incorporate date nights into your busy lives.
