Ryan literally danced his way into Cordula’s heart. They met at a Playdate event in Charlotte that Ryan hosted. Cordula was intrigued by Ryan’s dancing skills when he led “Simon Says” and she had a friend introduce them. The next day, they talked on the phone for hours and found out they had several things in common: they loved music, the movie The Matrix, the cartoon character the Tazmanian devil, and most importantly, they realized that they were caring people with big hearts. They have been dancing in the name of love ever since that phone call.
Three years later, Ryan decided he wanted to have all of Cordula’s closest friends and family present when he proposed to her. So he took Cordula on what she thought was a going to be an intimate birthday dinner, which turned into a surprise birthday dinner with friends and family, and eventually ended up being a surprise proposal!
Since they both love music and Cordula loves to sing, they decided on “This is Our Love Song” as a wedding theme. The theme was inspired by a song Cordula wrote for Ryan entitled “Win or Lose.” The couple named their tables after love songs, and Cordula even sang to her husband during their ceremony! The couple’s red to pink ombre color scheme evoked a classic ambiance of love and romance and was incorporated beautifully into everything from the bridesmaids’ dresses, to their gorgeous arrangements of hydrangea, roses, orchids, and calla lilies, and their four-tier wedding cake.
Dancing brought this couple together, so it was only fitting that they put on a performance during their reception. Cordula shares, “performing a choreographed dance together to Beyonce’s ‘Drunk in Love’ [was one of our most memorable moments.] Though [Ryan] resisted the idea at first, he’s a true performer at heart and we had the time of our lives putting on a show! The video has since gone viral!” It was just one of the many fun filled moments this that made their wedding a true reflection of their love and passions.
