Will was told that LaRema thought he was cute. That was all he needed to step through the open door. Soon after, he sent the infamous letter “Will you go out with me? Yes or No?” Although they never “went out” anywhere, they wrote each other tons of letters (which they still have today). As teenagers, any distance between them seemed like worlds apart. They continued to write letters but the friendship faded as time passed.
How they met:
LaRema and Will met when they were 12 years old when she became a new student at school. Will became one of LaRema’s first boyfriends. The following year, she moved to a nearby city and they thought that it was best to remain friends, not realizing how close in proximity they would actually be. As they got older, their paths infrequently crossed. LaRema would see Will at a local restaurant where he worked. He didn’t seem like the person that she remembered when she was 12 and no one that she’d be interested in but they’d always be courteous to one another, say hello, and ask how things were going. At church, LaRema ran into Will’s sister at church and had a friendly conversation with her. A week later, she was surprised by a surprise phone call from Will. They’ve been inseparable ever since.

The proposal:
LaRema and Will decided that they wanted to go on a vacation just to get away and headed to Atlantic City. She had a feeling that Will would be proposing because he had been dropping little hints, along with other indicators, so she began dropping hints about going to her favorite restaurants in Philly and he obliged. Will sent her to the spa to get a manicure and pedicure as well as getting her hair done. He later told her to book spa appointments for the both of them while on vacation and she didn’t need much convincing. She called to book the spa appointments but unbeknownst to her, he called right after she did an told the staff of his proposal plans.
Because she had provided him with some of her favorite restaurants, she just knew that he would propose at one of them, over a romantic dinner. Will proposed at Cloud 9 Day Spa in Galloway, NJ, and was totally surprised when he proposed at the spa after their massages. One of the biggest surprises that LaRema received was a video that he made with all of her close family and friends congratulate them. She was so overwhelmed because she knew how much running around he had to do in order to get in contact with all of the people on the video. Aside from the beautiful ring, it was really a true testament to his love.
The Engagement Session:
Their engagement session was great. They hired Lesley Ade’ Photography, who was recommended by a friend who loved the ease and timeless touch of her style. The chose the Troy Art Center as the location for the E-Shoot location because they are both artists and felt that it was the one place that truly represented both of their styles. The gallery was very abstract and modern while sitting in the midst of a laid back environment. Because Will plays the piano, they were excited about the grand piano that is normally at the gallery. On the day of the shoot, they found out that the piano had been sold but were able to utilize a smaller one. Their shoot was exactly what hey wanted it to be; fun, energetic, modern, and laid back.
Looking forward to…
LaRema says that she’s looking forward to marrying her best friend in the whole world and getting down on the dance floor.
