When you’re meant to be, like Nathalie and Tramaine, life has a way of continuously creating “chance” encounters – moments of opportunity for your soul to recognize it’s mate. For Nathalie and Tramaine, their first encounter occurred one Halloween night when they “caught each other’s eye,” but their love story truly wouldn’t begin for another two years when their second encounter would lead them on a date where they would realize how completely perfect together they are – becoming inseparable ever after…

Tell us how you met and all about the proposal.
We met on Halloween night in 2010. We caught each other’s eye, even posed for a picture together, but didn’t cross paths again until two years later. A “poke” on Facebook led to a first date and a romantic walk in the park. Tramaine and I have been inseparable ever since. It didn’t take long for us to figure out that we were truly a match. We have supported each other’s passions throughout the years and have had a lot of fun working together as well.
As the ultimate event planner, Tramaine laid out the details of the engagement perfectly. He had me booked to photograph a “39-year vow renewal” which turned out to be a cover for the biggest surprise of my life. After the vows were renewed, Tramaine interrupted the service along with friends and family from all over (Canada, Texas, Kentucky, Miami and MORE). He got down on one knee and proposed in front of all our loved ones!
What was wedding shopping like for you? My wedding dress was a classic lace gown in a mermaid silhouette. Wedding shopping spanned three cities and took a lot longer than usual since I am so indecisive.
Did you incorporate any culture into your wedding? We blended our Haitian and American backgrounds in the dinner menu.
Bridesmaids/Groomsmen gifts: Bracelets from Alex and Ani for the bridesmaids. Engraved pocket watches for the groomsmen.
Favorite item on the menu: Haitian “djon djon” rice.
First dance song: “Tear of Joy” by Faith Evans.
What is your best memory from your wedding? One of my favorite memories was our “first look” session. Tramaine shed tears when he first laid eyes on me and it was an intimate way for us to “break the ice” on our emotional day. Overall, having all of our family and friends present to celebrate something so beautiful was priceless.
What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples? Embrace the planning process and enjoy this time in your life. On your wedding day, take some moments to look around and appreciate how special it is. There is nothing that can replace the feeling of having so many loved ones together.
