Dirk Nowitzki is one of the most recognizable faces in the NBA. The 7-feet tall German power forward is a former NBA champion who has been playing for the Dallas Mavericks for the past 14 years. According to reports, the notoriously private NBA star proposed to his girlfriend, Jessica Olsson, over Valentine’s Day this year. Olsson is a director at an art gallery and sister to twin Swedish footballers (soccer players), Martin and Marcus Olsson.
Newstime Africa reports that Nowitzki wed Olsson in Kenya in a traditional wedding ceremony. The half-Swedish and half-Kenyan Olsson and the German Nowitzki wanted to incorporate her Kenyan heritage into their celebration. According to Newstime Africa, Dirk has stated, “This is one of two wedding set-ups that we have planned to undertake and the ceremony has been very beautiful.” Jambo News Spot reports that the wedding took place over the July 15 weekend and was a traditional Kenyan Kikuyu celebration.
