From the very beginning, New Orleans has been at the center of LaShunda and Lauchland’s love story. The couple met at Xavier University of Louisiana where her charm and his determination engaged, changing their lives forever. Within two days they exchanged dreams and aspirations, they learned and listened to one another igniting the start of their journey to love.
“They wanted a classy affair with a taste of that New Orleans flair, and that’s exactly what they got! Their whole day was completely suited for them. It was the perfect mix of Memphis and Mardi Gras, combining fleurs de lis and Southern hospitality,” Planner and Event Designer TyRon of WellsConsulting Events & Designs shares. Glamourous and tasteful in its design, the wedding featured sparkling tablescapes complete with candlelights and lush floral designs by Studio 1524 Floral & Event Design. Deep purple lighting complimented the white draping that separated the seating areas, while green seat cushions was a chic nod to the moss of the Louisiana bayous. It was truly the perfect homage to love in Louisiana. Amy Hutchinson of Amy Hutchinson Photography captured the images of this beautiful New Orleans inspired wedding.

Describe the wedding dress
The stunning fitted bodice of the wedding dress was adorned with pristine folds and finished with a sweetheart neckline and corset closure. Dramatic tulle created a voluminous skirt.
How was culture incorporated in the wedding?
Lauchland’s family has a rich Caribbean background. Rum cake, a traditional holiday season dessert, was served at the rehearsal dinner. Although rum cake is synonymous with Christmas, Lauchland’s aunt prepared the dense, fruit filled dessert was specifically prepared for our celebration and traveled across the Atlantic Ocean to make our rehearsal memorable.
What are your favorite memories from your wedding day?
We were ecstatic to finally see so many friends and family come together to celebrate us. Friends came from Europe and St. Croix to witness our union. We had an Xavier University of Louisiana reunion, and enjoyed partying to some of our favorite bounce songs. One family member in particular, our flower girl Alexandria, was a show stopper! She enthusiastically greeted the guests as she proceeded down the aisle.
What advice would you give to our brides-to-be?
The best advice we can give to engaged couples is to enjoy every moment, and do not sweat the small mishaps. Remain friends and trust that God will see you through any situation.
