This lovely couple was literally a match made in heaven. Brittany and Timi met during Brittany’s “Match Day,” the day medical students find out where they will be doing their residency. Timi spotted Brittany crossing the street for two seconds and knew right away that God had created that moment for a reason. After one dance, they both were hooked.

Bride: Brittany Dawson Groom: Timi Tuamokumo Occupations: Bride – Internal Medicine Resident; Groom – Physician Wedding date: April 6, 2013 Location: Montgomery, ALHow They Met
“My husband and I met when I was a 4th year medical student at University of Alabama in Birmingham on the most important day for a medical student, Match Day. This is the day where all medical students across the country find out where they will be going for their residency. Timi came to support some of his friends and find out where they had “matched” to. Somewhere in the hustle and bustle of the crowd as I crossed the street with my family, Timi noticed me without my knowledge. He said he only saw me for 2 seconds, but at that moment he got an intense feeling and he knows God created that moment for a reason. After my family had returned home, I attended our Match Day party. A mutual friend of ours told me how his friend Timi was asking about me and essentially told me he was a great guy that I should give a chance. Timi states he had no idea he did that, but is forever grateful for him putting in a good word. Despite being on a grueling schedule with long hours, Timi came to our Match Day party just to meet me. He approached me and we started talking. He asked me to dance and we took the floor to B.o.B.’s ‘Nothin on you.’ At the end of the song, he dipped me and that’s when I decided I’m going to really give this guy a chance. We exchanged numbers and the rest is history.”
The Wedding & Culture Details
“The wedding seemed like non-stop action. From when my feet hit the floor, there was an array of things to do. That day was an endless string of unforgetable moments: laughing and joking with the bridal party, sharing special moments with my mom, the look of love on my husband face at our first look, and they just go on and on. We started with the ladies and gentlemen dresses separately in rooms at the Wynlakes Country Club while we had separate photo shoots. Then we had a first look with my soon to be husband followed by pictures with the bridal party. We then look a limousine to Shiloh Baptist Church for traditional church ceremony with us saying our “I dos.” Following the ceremony and pictures, my husband and I were wisked away in the limousine to join in the fun at the reception at Wynlakes Country Club. From a sassy dance introduction to Michael Jackson to my father-daughter dance ending with my brother break dancing, it was truly a great night. After cutting the cake and the single men skirting the garter toss, we incorporated my husband’s Nigerian roots. The bridal party, our parents, Timi, and I changed into traditional African dress as we reentered the reception hall with Nigerian music playing. Our family friends joined us on the dance floor while people spraying us, which entails tossing money on the bride and groom to celebrate their union. The night was truly amazing and I still find myself reliving all the great moments.”
Most Memorable Moment from the Bride
“I will never forget dancing with my father for the father-daughter dance when suddenly the music changes to “Five Minutes of Funk.” My dad calls my quiet, reserved brother onto the dance floor with us and we proceed to bring back some early 90’s dances. My brother stole the show by break dancing! I will never forget just cutting loose with my big brother and father.”
You Make Loving You So Easy
From him… “I love that she is caring.” From her… “His laugh… It’s infectious and makes me want to laugh. Sometimes, even when he’s laughing at me. Lol.”View more from this wedding in the gallery here.
