Oklahoma Wedding with Black and White Details by BRC Photography: Shannon + Dennis

Now this is what we call electrifying love! Dennis had the ring and a special beachside dinner proposal all planned out during he and Shannon’s Playa Del Carmen, Mexico vacation… But the weather drastically changed his plans. Lucky for him, the hotel helped him move everything inside their suite. But right when the couple sat down to enjoy their meal the entire resort lost power. Dennis and the waiter had to act fast- they lit candles. He got down on one knee… Shannon said, “Yes!” and there was enough love to light up the room!

From the bride…

For our wedding, we wanted something elegant and timeless. We chose mostly blacks and whites for colors except for the bridesmaids dresses which were sapphire blue floor length dresses. The groom/groomsmen all wore a black tuxedo topped off with a traditional bow tie. For my dress, I went into the search thinking I wanted a mermaid style gown but came away with the exact opposite and I cant imagine that I would have ever found a more perfect dress! Im all about comfort so i wore Toms under my gown which also had our initials and date sewn into them, as well as, my “something blue” which was a piece of my dad’s blue shirt in the shape of a heart on the top corner of the right shoe. 

The entire morning was pretty difficult for me b/c my dad, who I was extremely close to, passed away in January of 2012. The day of our wedding would have been his 59th birthday so I had all kinds of emotions running through my body. After crying for most of the morning, I was extremely nervous about whether or not I was going to be able to hold it together but the moment Dennis and I had our 1st look, all of that went away and in that moment, I knew everything was going to be perfect no matter went wrong b/c we had each other!

Loving You Is Easy Because…

He always tells me that I’m the “voice of reason” in our relationship. He loves that, for the most part, I’m always able to stay calm in any situation.

He keeps me laughing!
