Muna Coterie member, Sequoyah Daniel Photography, captured Shenea and Marlon’s “old school” love in a sexy engagement session at the TWA hotel at JFK.
After matching on the dating app, Coffee Meets Bagel, Shenea and Marlon quickly realized they shared something special. Their first date at one of Shenea’s favorite restaurants sent them ‘jet set’ towards love, and they haven’t looked back since!
Fast forward to December 25th, 2022, Marlon popped the question on family game night.
During a family game of charades, our closest friends and family held up signs that read “Shenea Will You Marry Me?” In the background, “Best Part” by Daniel Caesar ft. HER played.

The intimate moment with friends and family was the perfect beginning to their forever. Shenea and Marlon celebrated their engagement with a vintage photo shoot at The TWA Hotel at JFK Airport. They wanted a sexy, classy, and vintage feel to bring their “old school” love to life, and the venue (along with their fabulous photographer, Sequoyah Daniel-Robinson!) certainly delivered.

How they met…
Marlon and I met on a dating app called Coffee Meets Bagel. After a few days of messaging, we exchanged numbers, went on our first date and the rest is history.
Their first date…
On our first date, Marlon and I went to one of my favorite restaurants. We went to Mocha Asian Bistro on Austin Street which has a very Village meets the Upper East Side vibe. We discovered during one of our first conversations that we shared a love for sushi. So we ordered our favorite rolls and enjoyed a lovely dinner with drinks and dessert. I had just passed my LMSW exam so Marlon treated this date also as a celebration.
The proposal…

The engagement session…
For our engagement photoshoot, we wanted to give, sexy, classy, and vintage. We wanted big and bold colors but wanted a timeless look. We took our photos at the TWA Hotel, which is modeled after a 70s airport. We loved the vintage theme as we view our love as “Old School.”
Favorite thing to do as a couple…
We love the simple things like spending time cuddled up watching our favorite shows and movies. We also love trying new restaurants and somehow we always end up at Van Leeuwen, our favorite ice cream spot.
Wedding planning so far…
Marlon and I have been Married since Aug 12, 2023. We are enjoying newlywed life and had an amazing wedding. Wedding planning had some highs and lows, there were some stressful moments but everything turned out the way we envisioned it.
What they’re looking forward to most on their wedding day…
We most looked forward to walking down the aisle and exchanging our “I Do”s in front of our family and friends. We looked forward to dancing all night long and celebrating our beautiful love story with those we love the most.
